A look at the retirements

[Paul-London]

NY Knights

FB Joey Dozier was a great FB in his day but lost the position to Quincy Wilson and decided to retire.  WR Bell was a huge loss as he only recently came over to NY in a trade.  The secondary is depleted as 3 players retire

Orlando

WR Travis Anglin was angry for being benched last year and after being traded from London just a year ago decided to quit.  P Jason Malecki needs to be replaced.

Ohio

Veteran QB Mike Pawlawski retired after a great career with Ohio but a slow start last year sent him to the bench.  Ohio will be on the lookout for WR's as Ziesel and Moore retired and several other veterans. A lot of holes to fill.

Birmingham

Amazingly had no retirements !

Sacramento

DT Lamanzer Williams a former starter decided to quit as did veteran TE Rod Trafford and S Derrick Tatum Jnr.

San Antonio

A lot of retirements, WR Dane Looker is one of the best WR's in history and retired after a superb season at the top.  The team lost several talented players on defense and will have to fill in the spaces.

Mexico

Veteran CB Devon Harper who was a backup this year retired, S Whitaker and Banks were a great 1-2 for Mexico for many years but they also quit, the Aztecs surely will look at the secondary in Round 1 now !

Raleigh-Durham

Curtis Alexander didnt retire but seemed to age badly.  WR Robert Baker who was the top WR in S18 with 94 catches and over 1400 yards had a poor year last year and was benched and now Baker decided to retire.  Valuable backups retired from the LB's but no starters.

Montreal

A great punter in Bill LaFleur retired but K Jose Cortez and QB Danny Wuerffel importantly decided to stay on.  HB Ken Simonton after being benched late last year decided to quit after a great career in which he retired as the 3rd leading rusher of all time.

Frankfurt

DE Andre Arnold who was a backup in S18 and hardly played and this year had 34 tackles , 13 sacks and was named EFC Defensive Player of the Year decided to retire at the top but he leaves a huge hole.  DE Cullen Jenkins another quality player retired so the Galaxy will be think on the d-line this year.

Berlin

Great Thunder WR Edell Shepard retired after 10 season with the team, LB Brad Rekuc a former star LB with Berlin also decided to quit.

Rhein

Several talented veterans retired but no starters, G Patrick Venzke a great offensive linemen in the FWL decided to quit

London

A lot of backups retired, all veterans but DE Mark Word signed a 1 year contract with London which is great news for the fans.

Scotland

Scotland lost some talented players, WR Haygood was a quality WR, FB Witherspoon was a great player with Austria but just a backup with Scotland.  DT TJ Bingham was a great player with the Claymores but injury forced him to retire.

Barcelona

Several veterans leave the squad who hardly played last year as Barcelona went with youth

Paris

Only one retirement for Paris which will help, CB Yeremiah Bell was a former starter and played well last year as a backup with 34 tackles and an int.  Bell spent his entire career with Paris and retires after 9 seasons

WR Dane Looker retiring will certainly have an impact.  He finished his career just edging out longtime route-mate Stepfret Williams in career yardage, and joined him as only the second player in league history to finish his career with over 10,000 yards receiving while amassing 1000 yards both as punt and kick returners.

CB Ade Jimoh also leaves a void, having been a starter throughout his career as well as currently owning the franchise's career tackles record at 652.

Guard Brian Waters also leaves a bit of a hole, retiring after just passing the 100-starts mark.

TE Tony Slatter's retirement was a surprise, leaving young Sean McHugh on his own at the position.

WR Cedrick Bonner retires as the franchise record holder in kick return yards; his departure also means that the team has lost its 3 most accomplished receivers in the same offseason.

DB Chris Massey had amassed over 400 tackles in 5 years as a starter.

DE Kevin DeRonde had just joined the team last season, but contibuted 6 tackles and 2 sacks in relief of a frequently decimated line.
