The Skyhawks finally got their man.  Last year it was rumoured the Riders offered Alexander for the number 1 overall pick but the Skyhawks declined that offer.  Now 8 weeks into the new season the Skyhawks have finally got their man.

Raleigh have made many trades this season, some of them controversial and sometimes they may have overpaid for other players but also received some good bargains.  This trade looks to be an excellent one for the Skyhawks as they pick up one of the best HB's in the league and perhaps one of the best all time.

Despite a down year in 2009, Alexander has rushed for over 1000 yards in 3 of the last 4 seasons and last year nearly became the first player in league history to have 1000 yards rushing and 1000 yards receiving.  Alexander fell just 6 yards short receiving but still had an amazing year with over 2000 yards and 10 tds rushing and 12 tds receiving.

This year due to several niggling injuries Alexander has been in and out of the starting lineup, he has only 286 yards rushing after 8 weeks and could have his 'worst' season ever but he has missed several games with injury.  He has still caught 36 passes but the injuries have taken their toll and Alexander needs to back to 100%.  Still the risk was worth it for Raleigh who thanks to all their trades this season they have a wealth of draft picks to use.

Earlier in the week Raleigh traded two young backup players for a 2nd round pick which was then shipped off to the Riders so the price Raleigh paid for Alexander looks to be on paper very good.  Alexander will instantly take over the HB1 position and the Riders hope he will bring a lot of success to the franchise.  Raleigh still need to strengthen their o-line but Alexander has great ST and should break a fair few tackles and Skyhawk fans hope he will rejuvenate this team.

The whole Skyhawks team has had a huge transformation this season...

QB Aaron Rodgers, HB Curtis Alexander, WR Robert Baker, WR Ricky Hall and TE Bobby Blizzard are the stars of the new look Skyhawks offense.  However the Skyhawks have had one of the worst defenses in all of football, the last two years the defense has ranked last and the Skyhawks defense has ranked last 4 out of the last 6 seasons.  This year they are 16th but Raleigh could turn into the Raiders of the NFL, last year Oakland had on paper a great offense but with a terrible defense and no offensive line the offense couldnt get anything going.
