New York Knights (9-6) at Montreal Machine (11-4)

This game should be a battle of the wounded.   NY have 6 injuries and Montreal 4.  The main talking point is Montreal QB's Danny Wuerrfels injury as he has a sore ankle, Wuerrfel we presume will start but the injury could affect his mobility.  For New York HB DeMario Brown has a mild concussion and is P-1 but NY management say he will start regardless.

This year Montreal had the 11th best offense, NY the 10th, defensively Montreal 16th and NY 15th !  As you can tell the teams are very evenly matched however the key point is NY are 2-5 away, Montreal 7-0 (8-0 including the playoff game) and the Machine have been here many times before.  QB Danny Wuerrfel has led his team to 4 FWL Bowls winning 3 and this will be his 6th AFC Championship !

For NY QB Jason Campbell started his FIRST ever FWL game against Raleigh and on the whole played well making a lot of key plays and threw 2 td's and was picked off just once.  He threw mainly short passes and had a long of just 23 but was very effective as NY rolled up 23 first downs and had possession for 35 minutes.  The key is HB DeMario Brown, Brown helped out Campbell last week by having a great game on the ground but they face a Montreal defense even though it was ranked low this year it can make a lot of plays stuffing the run and pressuring the QB.  Riders QB Michael Bishop was sacked 10 times against the Machine last week, Montreal could have a field day against young Jason Campbell.

However Jason Campbell could be this years 'Jeff Hostetler' and surprise everyone with his play in the playoffs.  He has nothing to lose, most people are expecting a big Montreal win but Campbell is the wildcard.  In past years a strong NY team have failed in the playoffs, this year no one expected NY to do much with starting QB Phil Stambaugh out injured but Campbell could be a surprise.  It will be tough however against a great Montreal side packed full of quality veterans with playoff experience.

Amsterdam Admirals (12-3) at Scottish Claymores (14-1)

Many say whoever wins this game will win this years FWL Bowl.  Whoever does win will be at home for the FWL Bowl so this game is key for both sides even more if they hope to win a championship.

Amsterdam lost a nailbiter in last years EFC Championship but put that ghost to rest with an incredible win against Austria, for 3 quarters however Amsterdam were very poor but came through when it mattered.  Scotland looked nervous on the other hand against Frankfurt, they won a good tough defensive game but didnt woo anyone over with their play.

Scotland are a true blue collar team, they win thanks to a great defense and a pound it out rushing attack.  They dont have any major injuries whereas Amsterdam have 3 injuries on defense, EFC Defensive Player of the year Clint Mitchell who missed last weeks game could be back however despite still being P-1.

Who will win ?  Its a tough one, offensively Amsterdam have the top offense thanks to Joe Hamilton coming in at QB and being on fire, Scotland are ranked 9th, defensively Amsterdam are 7th but Scotland number 1.   No teams can run on the Claymores so its up to Hamilton to have a big game passing which will be tough.

Scotland are favourites but in past years have been let down in the playoffs so they know anything can happen.  Amsterdam have potential but it will be tough in Scotland where the Claymores are 7-0 but Amsterdam are great on the road at 5-2 and are 17-4 over the last 3 seasons on the road.
