Title: Rhein look to make the playoffs Post by: Paul-London on May 20, 2008, 03:56:08 AM Its been an incredible year so far for Rhein. Last year they were 3-11 and had a 6 game losing streak to end the year. This year they started 1-3 but have rebounded to win 5 of their last 6 games and at 6-4 could be on their way to the playoffs.
Their new GM has done a wonderful job, he totally overhauled the roster, made a lot of trades, had a great draft and seems to be happy with his roster. QB Dave Ragone was a great pickup from Montreal, HB Tony Hollings is finally looking like a 1st round draft pick, veteran WR Damon Savage who no one wanted has been brilliant at WR and leads the team. On defense the secondary is totally overhauled, rookies Darnell Bing and even Pete Hunterhave settled in nicely and the new LB corps has played very well. However it gets tricky for Rhein over the final month... H Scotland 8-2 H Amsterdam 10-0 A Austria 6-4 H Montreal 5-5 Their final 4 games are against teams with winning records on their way to the playoffs, all except Montreal but the Machine are currently 5-5 and right in the playoff mix. The final game could be crucial. They face potentially the 3 other playoff teams in the EFC in quick sucession. A very very difficult final month for Rhein but they know they still stand a great chance of making the playoffs. They are 2 games ahead of their nearest rivals and hold the tiebreaker over Frankfurt but not to London. Should be a great exciting final month |
