Title: FWL records ! Post by: Paul-London on April 01, 2005, 08:17:39 AM Lots of things happening the last few weeks and for next week...
- Vance Blundin needs 1 catch to become the first person EVER to get to 900 catches, also 73 yards to become the receiving yardage leader - QB Pat Barnes last week overtook Jon Kitna for yards all time by a passer (37,375) and now needs only 12 td's to become the leader in that category as well. - CB Ernie Short needs 1 interception to equal the record of 16 - Berlin DT Jim Hoffman needs 1 sack to reach 100 (only 4 people have done that before) - CB Ernie Short needs 5 tackles to become the first person to reach 900 career tackles - Amsterdam P Willis Angco becomes the first person ever to have over 1000 punts !! - Birmingham K Damon Fox becomes the all time leading scorer and kicker overtaking HB Bobby Phililips with 897 points !! On his way to the first player ever to score 900 points - Berlin K Mike Dawbs needs 7 points to become the 2nd all time leading kicker *** Weird fact *** In the Season 2 draft ( http://www.fwl.org.uk/drafteos2.htm ) Amsterdam drafted their starting kicker Sami Lappalainen in Round 5, they also drafted in Round 6 K Damon Fox AND in Round 7 K Mike Dawbs !!! Both kickers werent even traded, they were cut, Birmingham picked up Fox and Ireland/Berlin picked up Dawbs !!! Lappalainen went onto kick for 9 years scoring 632 points (16th all time) but in the next few weeks Dawbs and Fox will become the top two kickers in FWL history !! AND Amsterdam probably had an amazing draft that year as they have potentially drafted THREE Hall of Famers (the two kickers) and.... In Round 3 they drafted DT Skylar Cushman, he was eventually traded and has become the all time sack leader ever ! Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Andrew-Neutral on April 01, 2005, 08:24:06 AM I notice that the all-time most accurate kicker title keeps switching between Damon Fox and my own Ola Kimrin. If one misses a kick, his percentage goes down enough for the other to overtake.
I also notice my own S Isreal Byrd is now number 3 in all-time tackles. Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Paul-London on April 12, 2005, 11:46:43 AM You'll see from the career stats that a lot of my golden oldies always appear in that list for tackles !
When you look at Byrds career... http://www.fwl.org.uk/alltime.htm#ibyrd He is the ONLY player ( i believe) who has had 6 straight seasons of 90+ tackles ! He was well on his way to becoming the leading tackler by far (probably never beaten) until the past few seasons. Sadly only has 15 tackles this year and might not get a chance to have a great shot at #1 now You know how i love playing my vets ! I presume Short will retire this year BUT if he does continue i'll give him a shot at 1000 tackles for sure. I'm tempted to start my young LB Brown at LB1 as i think he could be in the top 10 of tacklers for sure. Has 77, 82 and 63 so far in his 3 seasons but LB Kinnon Tatum continues to play so well that i've kept him as LB1. Hes now 9th all time and could be in the top 3 at the end of the year. He'll be in his 9th season next year and has a great chance to catch CB Short. Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Mario ADK on April 12, 2005, 03:22:16 PM Ernie Short - probably my favourite player ever!!!!
Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Paul-London on April 12, 2005, 05:15:30 PM Well i shouldnt really still be starting him at CB1 but hes a living legend and i feel i have to ! Hes got his int for this year which is cool but i would love him to come back next year but who knows. If he retires he retires, i wont be cheating and trying to fix him to come back but as hes starting at CB1 all year he might come back ! Many GM's often put their 12th year players up to WR1 for example as it seems at times to give that player a better chance not to retire.
I've seen it before, if a WR is WR I then he retires quite often, put him up high say WR1 or WR2 and he seems to have a greater chance of staying on Very very few players play in their 13th or more season though, only had a handful in the last few years I also find if you have a lot of veterans then a handful will retire but not all of them. Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Andrew-Neutral on April 13, 2005, 05:15:20 AM Yeah, Byrd seems to have lost his form - I've got Shawn Mayer in the S1 position and he's the team's leading tackler this year. I don't think Byrd is good enough for S1 any more, which is a shame.
Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Paul-London on April 13, 2005, 07:05:02 AM Looking at your last few #1 picks you've done a great job...
http://www.fwl.org.uk/alltimedraft.htm#T9 Rice, Edwards, Davis, Butkus, Mayer and DeMarre are all starting. Mayer appears to be having a great start to his career.... Season 11 49 tackles, 2 interceptions Season 12 81 tackles, 2 interceptions Season 13 71 tackles so far Be great if he got an interception this year, dont think theres one player who has an interception every season of his career. My S Earl Riley (http://www.fwl.org.uk/alltime.htm#eriley) has a streak of 5 seasons with at least one int but missed out in his rookie year. Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Andrew-Neutral on April 13, 2005, 07:30:52 AM My one criticism of the way the games are played is the lack of turnover, especially Interceptions. Normally, an NFL QB would throw an int at least once every two games (or 4 in a game if you're name is Vinny), but FWL QBs only throw 5 or 6 in a season. I want more interceptions to be thrown!!!! - except by my QBs, of course.
Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Mario ADK on April 13, 2005, 11:25:27 AM And i want all DLs having their ratings up to 99 99 99 99 .....
i think that would be the only way for ADK to stop runs ??? Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Mario ADK on April 13, 2005, 11:27:48 AM Ernie Short - probably my favourite player ever!!!! btw: does anyone have the play-play of my most memorable game i ever played: season#3: Austria 16 at Rhein 12 (EFC-championship) i could tell you about Ernies heroics there..... Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Paul-London on April 13, 2005, 12:56:55 PM My one criticism of the way the games are played is the lack of turnover, especially Interceptions. Season 1 there were a fair few but once players improved etc this number declined its difficult as if we did change it it'll be weird now to get 5 players with 5 ints or more compared to previous seasons. Shame though Title: Re: FWL records ! I have all the play by plays (well 99% of them) and yeah i remember seeing that play by play with that last minute interception by Short. Bit like the Raiders/Browns wildcard game from 1980, Browns could win with a FG, went for a td and it was intercepted and game over. Short made a huge play in that EFC Game Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Niki on September 26, 2005, 08:35:50 AM - Amsterdam P Willis Angco becomes the first person ever to have over 1000 punts !! and a second punter with 1000+ punts is Oliver Usuhwa with 1,006 punts, he only needs 31 punts to take over the record from Willis Angco Title: Re: FWL records ! Post by: Paul-London on September 28, 2005, 03:06:49 AM I love the way Uschwa turned his career around, in the early days when defenses were awesome they also blocked punts all the time, Uschwa was one of the worst for this but he hanged tough and stayed in the FWL and has turned into a great punter now in the league, one of the best
