Title: FWL-NEWS: Are the Monarchs spoiling Curt Anes Party in "FWL-Classic XXIV"?
Post by: Mario ADK on May 04, 2005, 10:05:43 AM
"FWL-Classic XXIV", this seasons final regular-season-clash between the DarkKnights and the Monarchs could make history.

Not only that GM Kreiner could lead Austria to their first EVER overall lead in win/loss-comparison vs. London, but more importantly the game in London could mark a milestone in a carreer of a QB who seems to become a sure future Hall of Famer: ADKs Curt Anes!

BUT: It is in Londons hands - and yeah, i said HANDS wether that party could be a happy one or a sad one for Anes.

Anes could be the first #1-QB ever in FWL-History to finish his regular season with no interception. And only the HANDS of Londons Defense could prevent that.

"I know that (London GM) Jason is waiting for us with a totally pass-oriented defense. But Curt is a great guy, he is smart and he knows what to do. He can make it."

Anes success is very important for Kreiner, who traded for him for a huge huge price when Kreiner returned to duty as GM of the ADK. If Anes flopped, Kreiners days could have been counted, but he rose from a nearby flop to a stellar player and so Kreiners head was saved.

"Basically to me Anes milestone is more important than FWL-Classic XXIV itself. But as it all comes down to the point that Jason Compton can spoil our party this is a true indication that the  FWL-Classicis always more that just a game......", Kreiner commented.

Quick facts of the FWL-Classic  (23 games, 10 of them with Kreiner as ADK-GM):

1) All time win/loss: Austria 11-11-1; London 11-11-1 (even)
2) Kreiner vs. Compton: 5-4-1 (Kreiner up by one win)
3) Highest win Austria: 34-10 (without Kreiner); 25-17 (with Kreiner)
4) Highest win London: 27-0 twice(!) (without Kreiner); 20-14 (against Kreiner)
5) Closest game: Tied after OT (18-18)

FWL-CLASSIC XXIV: WATCH THE BATTLE - BE THERE!!!

Just for the Record as fantastic as Anes stats may appear I regret the fact that I must point out he accomplished this feat so far by avoiding all of the top 3 teams in INT's.  NY, MON, and SAC.  But since it's not you who makes the schedule I suppose congratulations are in order for your interception free season.  Oops did I say that before the final game?  Hope I didn't JINX Anes  :o.....

signed,

The broadcasters curse.

While it may be a classic in Europe, us 'Yankees' in "The States' (or The Colony if you prefer) really don't care.

While we in Montreal are Frenchie-Euro wanna be's, we prefer our American rivals to the south than the 'Nobody cares division' or the 'Gestapo division' in Europe.

Orlando, San Antonio, New York and Montreal are the toast of the FWL (Frankfurt too), and Austria keeps dreaming of what once was.

Interception or not, division title or not, it was a soft schedule.

Well, i have to agree to both of you. BUT: it is nothing but an excellent rivalry between me and Jason (which i try to "continue" even if Jason has been very quiet recently......) and i admit my invention to call it "FWL-Classic" is a bit of a strong statement for something other GMs actually do not care...

BUT:

I you follow FWLs historical paths you will see that the league developed some great rivalries and LON-AUS is just one of them.

You can call it my flashy (FWL-)style to call a game between two mediocre teams "Classic" but hey: It always has been a good rivalry, and i think it is a good one right now. (And David: Yes i am aware that ADKs present is not even near to their glory past - but after all what this frachise had to suffer over the last couple of seasons i am very very proud to have this title back - even in a UNDERESTIMATED  ;) divsion.....)

Regarding Anes:
yep. But in a couple of seasons no one will remember the schedule. but the stats will last forever - right?

But i have to reject one point:
Orlando? Toast of the league? Duh.....

***edited for grammatical reasons***

Maybe overspoke on Orlando, but I will never sell them short.

LOL: Please not that Amsterdam is not a part in Germany thanks to Yankees  ;D But in sport Dutch people are always double motivated to beat the Germans, especially after our soccer team lost the World Cup from Germany in 1974. That is why I love to be in this division  :o

Great stat Adam !!!  Still a great season by Anes.  Its one of those chicken and egg situations, to me because my defense are so bad a lot of teams are moving the ball on them and throwing the ball with ease, because they throw more i have more ints.  I mean i did have 48 year old CB Ernie Short starting for most of the season, he had 2 ints but i think thats because so many teams picked on him

Yeah, sorry about that, between a disappointing job change and a really awful team it's been hard to whip myself into the usual frenzy. I'm hoping the offseason will be, uh, cleansing and healing and stuff. :)

Rest assured, the Monarchs will do their best to make the Dark Knights latest division title taste of ashes.

Monarchs did what you said by causing 3(!) crucial injuries.

Not that i considered my team favourite against one of the strongest teams in the league right now (Berlin), but due to the brutal attacs by Monarchs players i lost
  • WR2 Moore (who was just returning from injury)
TE1 Watson (would be out for FWL-Bwol as well) and
    T2 Simmons (my best OL)

Put your money on Berlin, folks.

NOT VERY NICE, JASON!!!

Ha ha you would be loving it if it happened the other way round !

Pity about WR Cecil Moore as i would like to see how good/bad he really is but hes often injured.

I wouldnt worry too much about the injuries specially with a playoff game, as i was so eager to get WR Norris Blundin his 1000 yards i started him in Week 13 when he was D-3 and he had a 100 yard game !  Many teams start players at P-1 (Frankfurt did last week) so i wouldnt worry too much, the biggest injury was TE Watson but backup TE Schnee has some very similar attributes

As for London QB Alli Abrew has been very good the last two weeks (7 td's)

We managed to play ourselves out of the #1 pick, but hey, at least we beat the Dark Knights! :)

I was gonna say that, its quite funny the Monarchs won this time and because of that win they dont get the #1 overall pick !

Either way the Monarchs seemed to have a bit of a better side the last few weeks of the season and that could be some good momentum for next year

hey, is the "real Jason Compton" back?

congrats. an ugly first half, but the 2nd was quite well. the loss indicates how poor my team actually is playing and how lucky i am to have got another title.....

The Monarchs have scored over 20 points for 5 consecutive weeks now and over 26 the last two weeks.

Despite their 4-10 record 7 of their 10 losses have been by...

5 points
5 points
4 points
3 points in OT
5 points
6 points
6 points

But saying that out of their 4 wins theyve been by 7 points, 4 points, 4 points and 6 points in OT so London could easily be 7-7 or more or even 1-13 or 0-14 !
