Frankfurt Galaxy

GM - Marco Lambert has won the most games ever in FWL history and is tied with David Harwood (MON) for most FWL Bowl wins ever with 3.  Lambert has been the only GM of Frankfurt ever and has just one losing season during the 14 FWL seasons.  Lambert is a master tactician and has assembled a great squad at Frankfurt with experience and youth at many positions.

Offense - rush (5), pass (3), overall (3)

Former #1 overall pick QB Rohan Davey has started every game since he arrived in Frankfurt and his figures over the last 3 seasons have been 63 td's and just 14 interceptions.  He has been named All-FWL the last 2 seasons and could be named All-FWL again this year when the squads are announced.

Davey doesnt make many mistakes and is very explosive and hooks up well with his receivers.  His favourite target is WR Tony Simmons a former 1st round pick who had his best season ever this year with 94 catches (A Galaxy record) , over 1200 yards and 8 td's.  Another 1st round pick Marcus Knight who plays at WR2 has been criticised a lot but Knight can make some crucial catches and has played well the last few weeks.  At TE Justin Swift is a great target in the redzone and an excellent safety valve for Davey.

At RB Joe Aska last years leading rusher and FWL Bowl MVP had another huge year but tailed off near the end of the season, has age finally caught up to Aska ?  Aska finished 2nd overall in the league with over 1200 yards and 6 td's.   A great WR Aska also caught 86 passes for nearly 1000 yards and a touchdown.

The offensive line allowed only 40 sacks and played very well all year and is led by the excellent veteran tackle Pete Swanson. There is youth here but also some very experienced vets also. 

Defense - rush (9), pass (7), overall (7)

The Galaxy defense kept up its great history by finishing 9th against the run, every year of the Galaxy franchise they have finished 9th or better against the run for 14 seasons !  The team improved against the pass this year and are a tough unit overall to play against.  They allowed the 3rd fewest points in the league and despite allowing over 30 points twice the team allowed just 9 rushing touchdowns.

The d-line has experience and had 47 sacks this year but no player had over 9 sacks.  Young DE Andre Arnold jointly led the team with 9 sacks, an impressive number considering he was DE2 all year.  Former draft holdout DT James Roscoe has been brilliant the last few years and this season added 7 sacks. 

The LB's are an excellent group led by the great rookie Pisa Tinoisamoa who led the team in tackles with 81, set a Galaxy record and co-led the team with 9 sacks and also intercepted two passes.  Veteran LB Gary Stills has seemed to have lost his LB2 role to Grant Carter despite having a better season with 5 sacks compared to Carters 2. 

The secondary had a great year and is very young with 3 of the 4 starters in their 5th year or less.  They only intercepted one pass between them but they are great tacklers and CB Dempsy Dees is the fastest of the group and an excellent player who finished second on the team with 72 tackles.

Special Teams

Veteran K Erik Kastle kicked 19 of 26 FG's and has kicked some huge game winners this season and some important kicks in many close games.  P Nick Murphy had a down year finishing 16th in the league but should stay around next year.

PR is Marcus Knight who did break off a 42 yarder this season but his average could be much better.  The leading KR in the league this year is Damon Gibson but the WR/KR is out injured which is a big loss for Frankfurt.  Without him the Galaxy lose about 5 yards per kick return.

Overall

After a tough start to the year in which they started 0-2 and then moved to 3-4 at the halfway point the team then rolled out 5 straight wins and went 6-1 the rest of the regular season.  4 of their last 5 wins have been by 6 points or less and 2 have been in overtime.  Frankfurt havent been blowing away opponents this season and have only won 2 games by 10 points or more.  This suggests FWL Bowl XIV could be a close game.
