Title: Short Field Goal Misses
Post by: Stuart-Barcelona on November 28, 2005, 05:27:27 PM
First off, thank for the offers of new kickers guys  ;)

So I was looking at the kicking statistics and found something strange.
The kickers are almost as sucessful from over 50 yards than they are from inside 20.

The Stats:

Inside 20 - 10/17 - 58%
Over 50  - 15/26 - 57%

Seemed strange to me for something that is normally considered a chip shot.
and no i'm not just saying this becasue my kicker missed both from inside 20  ;) ;D

Thankfully we have got away from some of the weird 'quirks' from years gone by eg tons of punt blocks.  But yeah short FG's still seem a gamble which is odd

FWL fields lack hash marks, so wherever you get tackled is where you kick the ball from.  It's Paul's fault, though you just know he'll deny it.

Oh well a inside 20 yards FG in the FWL is a same saying to Clarence Seedorf that he can take a penalty, you never know what will happen  ::)

hm do they play football in Austria  ::) well they organize together with Switzerland the European cup of 2008, so after the World Cup in 1990 (Italy) they can finallt play in a big football tournement!

Well Austrian football/soccer-players have somthing in common with this topic: "Short (Field) Goal Misses"

 ;D

no, in fact i think i have heard the name De Boer, but have not heard of the other one. in fact i was a passionate football/soccer player in a club when i was young but totally lost interest when i discovered (am) football.

regarding the european tournament:
having this in Austria is a joke. we have no football/soccer culture even if it is the #1 specator sport. (But do you want to hear something interesting? The VIENNA VIKINGS (am.) football team is Vienna 4th most watched sportsclub behind 2 football/soccer-teams and the ice-hockey-team and ahead of all other sports or football/soccer-teams. Average 2000. Nice!)

But i don´t care anyway......

which of the three? Dick or one of the twin: Frank or Ronald?

Note: I think it is good that Austria is organizing it together with Switzerland, normally that will give a lot af media attention etc which results in that teh sport will become bigger. That is already the case in Switzerland but they will play at the WC in germany nex year (that helps).

That is why my hope for AF is still focused on more and better media attention in Europe, that way it can become bigger as it is now. Germany is a good example of how it should be, they atleast have national tv time for AF, here we have no TV attention at all

Have you ever contacted their owner about a front office position?

There are three of them? Maybe that is why i got used to hearing this name.

Niki,
i am not against soccer sportswise but from a am. footballs fan point of view i COMPLETELY disagree regarding your statement above.

"We" hate this tournament.

You want to know why?

Football/Soccer teams, the f/s oriented media and all those f/s "managers" on all levels of the sport see am. football as a real enemy and try to destroy the reputation of american football whenever possible even with some help of politican-networks. They hate "us". And the reason fo this is in fact the success "we" had over the last couple of years regarding the media. "We" even had nation-wide live-coverage of games and "we" had up to 6000 people watching the Austrian Bowl (which not all f/s team in Austrias 1st league have).

Example: the Vikings with their 2-3k specataors and a lot of Media attention are kicked out of their stadium because the owner of the stadium (which is a soccer-team!) says that they destroy the turf. in fact this soccer team plays in front of 500-800 people and has always been very jelous about the "mismatch"...... And Viennese soccer-minded politicians support this. And this is just one example.

And if you say that it is good taht f/s might become bigger due this tournament than what you basically say is that you like to see american football beeing locked away from media-attention and sponsorship-money and beeing surpressed(?) even more.

For every real american football fan in austria who is not "just" a sportsfan but who knows what terrible things go on behind the scene there is one thing for sure: Football/Soccer is the enemy.

That is a fact.

Well they often do something like this, eg put the World Cup in America or Korea to get the game going in those countries even more.

For me american football and football/soccer can co-exist , i'm surprised FIFA or whoever is trying to break into the Austrian market though as its not really one of the major countries for sponsorship etc.

I dont want tons of live football but i do live the Euro championships and of course the World Cup
