The Surge paid over the odds for rookie Charles Hill, a player they desperately wanted in this years draft. With a huge gaping hole at DE2 the Surge wanted a young player to fit that hole for the next 7+ seasons. They think they have that player in Hill. Hill due to a mixup was originally meant to be traded before Week 1 but he actually played one game for Rhein at DT1 and made 2 tackles in Week 1. But he is now a Surge player and at DE2 will play alongside All-FWL legend Mark Word. Hill has great speed but still needs to work on some of his other skills but despite the high price the Surge have paid they feel very happy about filling the DE2 void they had on their team. Former FA DE DeAngelo Lloyd will resort to being a backup. The Surge were in talks with a number of teams regarding a DE and came close in a few trades but in the end the team were happy to acquire Hill despite the high draft pick. For Rhein it was a great trade as they traded their 4th round pick for a 2nd round pick in next seasons draft |
