Title: Special teams play Post by: micheàl-no team on March 31, 2006, 12:11:22 PM The last few weeks :o 3 punts blocked in 4 weeks by 2 different punters. This week we get 1 blocked then block 1 of the Dragons but allow a huge P.R for a T.D. Talk about up & down
Title: Re: Special teams play Post by: Mario ADK on April 01, 2006, 01:25:22 PM blocked punts where really a pain in the ass before i took a break, nowadays the number of those are a a realistic level.
could be a slow punter. could be a poor snapper. could be a poor D-Line (check backups as well!) Title: Re: Special teams play Post by: jcompton-Orlando on April 01, 2006, 05:48:44 PM Yeah, there were a couple of guys who had ridiculous nightmare seasons (including ex-London punter Brian Greenfield) with >15 blocked punts per season.
Title: Re: Special teams play Post by: Paul-London on April 02, 2006, 07:54:56 AM Strange how you've had a lot of blocked punts, if you see the season stats (eg sseason12.htm ) for the last few years there hasnt been many.
But looking at your punter with 62 SP and 62 AC hes not the fastest punter in the world so he may take a fair bit of time to make the kick, if you see the speed of other punters (eg Montreal) the SP/AC is much much higher Title: Re: Special teams play Post by: micheàl-no team on April 02, 2006, 08:58:41 AM Strange how you've had a lot of blocked punts, if you see the season stats (eg sseason12.htm ) for the last few years there hasnt been many. Sometimes it could be your blockers protecting the punter, getting OL's with good SP/AC (as well as strength and other factors !) is very vital.
I'm sure its the standard OL who are out there for punts. Punt returns/kick returns use a lot of backup players (and starters) so its always useful having some fast CB's/WR's/LB's as it should make your coverage better. See how it goes this week or theres always P Barry Cantrell who has decent speed. Sometimes a player just goes through a bad patch, Lindsey has had several blocked in the past but not multiple ones in the same season Title: Re: Special teams play Post by: Marco_Frankfurt on April 03, 2006, 02:00:19 AM Sorry but the blocked punt is mainly a result of having DLmen with high SP,AC.
Remember one of the all time best punt blocker Steve Emtman ;) Its another point in the game where too fast DLmen can ruin the realism. Of course a slow P is helping these DL to get a block and bad OL may get beaten more often, after all its a team sport :) |
