Title: 13-1 teams Post by: Paul-London on April 10, 2006, 05:06:29 AM In the 15 seasons of FWL football there have only been two 13-1 regular season teams, this year with 2 weeks remaining two teams are 11-1 and have a chance to tie history.
Austria DarkKnights - Season 6 (2002) 13-1 and FWL Bowl champions Austria had the top ranked offense and scored the most points in the league allowing the second fewest. Their only loss that year was in overtime in Week 10 to Barcelona 23-17. Barcelona were 7-2 at the time and this great game went to overtime, both teams had to punt and finally when Barcelona received the ball they faced a 2nd & 17 on their own 27 yard line, FB Steve Papin broke two tackles and rumbled 73 yards for the winning touchdown. For Austria it didnt matter as they won every playoff game and finished the season 16-1, however sadly the following offseason the team were dismantled by their new GM. The team rushed for over 2000 yards , allowed only 11 touchdowns and registered an incredible 75 sacks. Rhein Fire - Season 4 (2000) 13-1 and FWL Bowl champions Rhein had a great year in 2000 and won many close games, they had a great defense which limited opponents to 10 points or less in ELEVEN of their 14 regular season games. Their only loss was to London in Week 6 16-14. Rhein scored a late touchdown to come back in the game 16-14 but London then managed to run out the clock. The team allowed only 13 touchdowns and had 67 sacks. |
