Title: Montreal Rosters
Post by: David-Montreal on December 15, 2004, 04:23:07 PM
Season 6 is when I took over and had our draft.  Key players that we drafted that year.

QB Danny Wuerfful - 2 time World Bowl QB.  Tied for most TDs in a season (23).  7th all-time in QB rating (1000 or more attempts).

WR Kai-Eryck Lyck - all time leader in Punt return yardage (3345), 3rd in returns (248), 2nd in average (13.5).  Most receptions and yards by a rookie (83-1061).

WR Slavomir Rybarzcyk - all time leader in kick returns (168) and yardage (3,652).

CB Dorian Brew - Solid.

Great draft.  Still think the NY Knights draft http://www.fwl.org.uk/drafteos10.htm is one of the best ever

1: DE Demoine Adams       last year DE1
1: S Shernard Newby        last year CB1
2: T Bryce Bohlander         last year T4
3: LB Lawrence Flugence   last year LB6
3: T Alex Tuttle               backup in Sacramento, future starter
4: WR Bosley Allen            last year WR2
5: S David Johnson            last year S2
6: DT Bernard Riley           inactive DT for Berlin
7: DT Lauvale Sape           last year starting DT2 for Austria

Out of 9 choices (pity NY passed on round 8 !) most of them are starting for NY and 2 for other teams.  Great draft

Looking at Paris/Cologne drafts, season 4 looks quite good, by Paris standards (I traded away lots of picks):-

Round 1 - S Israel Byrd - six consecutive 90+ tackle seasons, on his way to all-time leader, probably
Round 5 - DT Cameron Legault - still on the roster, but has slowed down a bit
Round 5 - WR Babak Movassaghi - great second receiver, 446 career recs, 5,579 yards, 21 TDs
Round 8 - S Lauren Holohan - still on the roster, but not starting any more
Round 8 - CB DeAuntee Brown - still on the roster, current starter
Round 8 - HB Kim Kuchi - made the opening day roster, but didn't do much

I must remember not to trade away all my picks, the draft must be the best way to improve a team's long-term prospects.

Its always a pity when teams pass up on the final round.  Quite a few starters have come from Round 8 including QB Phil Stambaugh.

Most of the sleepers come from rounds 4-8 because thats the only way to make it more realistic.  Wont be a surprise if the 3rd person taken in Round 1 is decent.

Keep a player from the later rounds through 2 or 3 training camps and they become a decent player
