Title: Barnes to start in Week 14 ! Post by: Paul-London on April 13, 2006, 06:24:08 AM Against doctors orders and having a still serious knee cartilage injury which should rule him out for 4 weeks Berlin veteran QB Pat Barnes will start the final game of the season against Barcelona. He could easily cause more serious damage but Barnes has begged GM Andreas Born for the chance to start one final time perhaps.
Barnes is unsure if he will return next season or not but Barnes badly wants to throw for at least 48 more yards to reach the magical 45,000 mark. At the moment he is still 7000 yards ahead of retired QB Jon Kitna at #2 and 14,000 yards ahead of his nearest active challenger with 31,000. Barnes has thrown 188 career touchdown passes, if he returns next year he has a chance to hit 200. Jon Kitna returned for one final season after a late injury in his penultimate year and there is a chance Barnes always will. But Barnes is in his 13th season and very few FWL players return for a 14th season. Former Surge LB Willie Walker surprised everyone by returning for a 15th season but players in their 14th season are still few and far between. Apart from one season in which he was surprisingly benched Barnes has been the main QB at Ireland/Berlin for 12 seasons and has led them to FWL Bowl glory. |
