Title: NY Knights dont like veterans ! Post by: Paul-London on December 16, 2004, 12:07:30 PM Wow just been looking at the opening season rosters for each team.
From Season 6 onwards theres only been TWO players on the NY Knights opening roster with double digit years of experience. The ONLY two players were T Gary Habib - 10th season and QB Pat O'Hara 10 season. Neither lasted till their 11th season with New York. NY have only had 2 players who have 10 years of experience or more in nearly 6 seasons ! Looks like soon to be 10th year pro Claus Biedermann must be quaking in his boots ! New York 1 Orlando 3 Ohio 1 Birmingham 6 Sacramento 6 Mexico 1 Raleigh-Durham 6 San Antonio 1 Montreal 3 London 6 Scotland 9 Barcelona 8 Frankfurt 1 Berlin 7 Rhein 9 Cologne 9 Amsterdam 2 Austria have just TWO players who will be in their 6th or more seasons next year. FB Kahihia 6th season next year and 'oldie' WR Todd Floyd who will be in his 8th season. They have NONE from 8 years or more. Incredible that nearly all the team are in their 5th or less season in the FWL. Considering the young DarkKnights were 5-9 last year they have a very bright future Title: Re: NY Knights dont like veterans ! Austrias Avg at the end of season #12: 1,64 yrs (with rookies counting as zero years) which makes 2,64 yrs at the start of season #13 (and before the draft)..... BUT most of the older players i got rid BEFORE the start of season #12 so my team had pretty much a 3-4yrs-average when i took over.... Right now i have 13 Rookies and 19 1yr-players..... world, watch out for us going all the way....... Title: Re: NY Knights dont like veterans ! i understand well the use of young player, BUT i dislike this crazyness about it. Two seasons ago I was in the Bowl with a lot of veteran players. Bobby and Stoney played superb even in their last years. If you would our FWL standards bring to the NFL then you would have to cut Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning or Terrell Owens and so on. Hey I understand that the first goal is winning, but could you believe that a former #1 pick and superstar RB like Montreals Phillips would just be happy to be backup in the prime of his years ? On one hand Lawrence Phillips wouldnt be happy to be a backup but then again its probably our fault for putting in too many good young RB's in the league.
When i won the FWL Bowl in Season 10 I had 4 players in their 10th year or more and 7 players in their 8th or 9th year. I think a good mixture of veterans and young players is what you need in the FWL. Look at Berlin, Michael Black was playing very well near the end, Pat Barnes is on his way to a lot of records and WR Vance Blundin also and theyre all in double digit years. Corey Sauter was the top rated QB for most of last year as well. However when you get a new GM come on board like Mario they obviously like to get the roster how they want just like in the NFL. Out of all the teams i listed, teams with 6 or more veteran players 3 out of the 9 teams made the playoffs. So then again you could say that veteran players dont always equate to winning Title: Re: NY Knights dont like veterans ! But you know when i took over the ADK the roster was ridiculous. I was given all of Mexicos crap and all good and younger players where taken to Mex. I did not complain because that was the price i had to pay for getting ADK back and i would not manage any other team (sentimental reasons). So i tried to turn the league upside down by trading the hell out of other teams.... As i said, it is fun as NOW i have established "MY" team with "MY" players. Didnt look great last year but players can turnaround (Look at David Ward with FRA in Season 11 then how he did this year with Birmingham) Kreinhagen is an interesting player though, his one start was incredible in that shootout with Cologne Reminds me of that situation in Washington a few years back when lowly draft pick Gus Ferrotte was out performing #1 pick Heath Shuler. I think the pickup of HB Jarious Jackson was a very good one |
