Title: Mission completed
Post by: Mario ADK on April 22, 2006, 03:49:29 AM
Yes.
I know i ususally do a lot of trashtalking but this game was very different:
Trailing by 13 late in the 4Q, the WR1 out of the game, suddenly with my WR4 and especially WR5 Hill exploding (Hill did not ever have a catch before!!!).

Tied the game with 16(!) seconds to go, but XP blocked. amazing.

OT: Still my WR5 catching EVERYTHING but it was not (yet) enough as i was pushed back out of GF-Range due to a bad play-call (Pass instead of run on 3rd down on Amsterdams 30yd-line), so Amsterdam got the ball but i stopped them with a sack on 3rd down, got the ball back and yet again my WR5 catching and catching and catching......

i almost shit in my pants when we attemped the FG but it was...... gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood.

Niki and his team really deserve my respect, they played awesome football and during the game (especially the first half) they TOTALLY dominated the game in every aspect. Still do not understand how this comeback really could have happened........

No matter what week 17 might bring as i am EFC CHAMPION, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it was an epic game.  Must admit i wanted the Admirals to win !!

As i said to you in the email i think there were a few keys to the game...

1) The loss of Huerta really hurt as Huerta often got 80+ yards rushing in most games and had played in some big playoff games before, backup Joe Smith is a good young HB but against top defenses in the playoffs he was struggling

2) Your secondary has really 'upped' it, the week before against Scotland you shut down their WR's, this week WR Thurman had a good game but WR2 Insley was practically quiet, plus the Admirals had to go to short passes to their HB like the Claymores did the week before so the Austrian secondary did a great job

3) The dreaded prevent defense.  Leading 20-7 just like in the NFL many teams go conservative, the DarkKnights played a brilliant game, instead of going bombs away the DarkKnights kept throwng short which worked all game long.

4) The backup WR's.  With Hatchette out of the game backup WR Efrem Hill had an amazing game, lots of short passes but it moved the chains, often late in a game a team will go to the WR4 or WR5 as theyre in single coverage

Hell of a game.  You had the heartache last year of losing to Frankfurt so this must feel even better.

Feel bad for Niki, had a great team, like i say the loss of Huerta really hurt in the end.  Epic game though

Even if probably everyone liked Amsterdam to win due to my "Namath"-style talking i give you one stat why i deserve this win:

I already won 7 EFC WEST - titles but this was just my 2nd EFC Converence - title.....

I think i deserve it.
And i defenitely ENJOY it. All those huge and sometimes controversial trades finally paid back.....

I am very happy.....

wow, that was very nice.
You know as the evil "Prince of DarkKnights" i am not used to "fan-support" so that is something like a new situation for me.
