Title: Week 4 - game day!
Post by: Jon-NewYork on September 07, 2006, 08:46:58 AM
I love game day! It feels like the first Saturday of the premiership after an international break, and made all the more exciting with the build up to the Dolphins/Steelers kick-off tonight...FWL week 4, back to nitty gritty of the regular season, a time when early season optimism becomes make or break, an important week for NY, defeat today would be unthinkable, and the season would already be in tatters, the pressure is on the rookie GM to halt the slide and get NY back to winning ways.

Game day news.

LB Lawrence Flegence is still on the injured list and misses his 3rd straight game. Grant Carter, the veteran LB signed from Frankfurt is slated to start, his experience, strength and speed will hopefully help reinvigorate  a beleaguered defense.

This week Orlando host Mexico, a game which they feel they came come out with a good result. Both teams come into the game with a 1-2 record, although Orlando come into the game after winning their last game, unlike Mexico. Should be a good battle betwen the two sides....

I'm just saying, but... if the Skyhawks win the FWL Bowl, I suggest that we all just walk away and pretend that the last 9 years were all just a dream.

Congratulations to Niki and Amsterdam !

After this game I fully accept that the Admirals are and will be the #1 in the EFC East.

Their defense was dominating despite loosing important starters. The shut down my running game and put a lot of preassure on my QB. At the same time their OL played a brilliant game and definitely controlled the line of scrimmage. The division title belongs to Amsterdam this season, no doubt about it.

Phew, that was very close, Stambaugh again was the saviour, theres a bust currently being made of the great NY QB!

Veteren LB's came good for me this w/e, Keith Miller (not the one from East Enders) led the way with 9 tackles against his former team (I bet he enjoyed that), not bad for a guy who was shown the door and proof that if your good enough your young enough, and a further 5 tackles and 1 sack from the 8 year veteren Grant Carter in his first game in a NY uniform.

It was very very tight, too tight in fact, but hopefully NY can build on this result.

A great game from London, and good to see Joey Hall getting in the endzone, I think he has a big future...

Tough Luck on San Antonio, converting on 4th and 5 to tie up the game part way through the 4th, then 4th and lessthan a yard so they punt, and then it was the Jarrett Payton Show, all the way to paydirt.

If i say things like that someone would tell me "oh, do not always say things like that etc etc etc....."
cmon Marco, you lost in OT, you know.... it was not a wipeout or something.... there are still 9 weeks to go in reg season and still a lot will happen....

Anyway:
One of the best weeks ever in the FWL.
Thrilling games. Many surprises....

Regarding my team:
It seems my team scares the opponents to death as soon as they enter the field..... Great stats on almost every aspect of the game and i did not even use my starting QB yet..... Symons was a great grab before the season, very happy with him... No superstar-stats on Defense, EVERY player contributes...

I don't know... their victories have not been cheapies. You can never count Montreal out of making a run, but 2 division and 4 conference wins looks mighty good. If they can't at least split with the EFC teams over the next two weeks, then sure, start doubting them. Until then, I am saying they look awfully good and it'll be time to encase the league in bronze. :)

If you mean that it's hard to work up any sympathy for any plight you may be experiencing, that's certainly true. But it's true of Marco as well. And Montreal. Lots of Ms.

But I agree if your point is that it's a little early to be conceding the division with just a half-game deficit.

Never said that those victories came cheap. Mark established a great team but still i would rate them as a PO-contender but not much more. I might of course re-think what i say if RAL beats FRA this week but i doubt that....
(Even if i cheer for Mark as every loss of Marco brings me closer to the top of the GM-Stats.....)
´
Jason: Isn´t it pitty what happened to the FWL-Classic? 4-0 at home vs. 0-4.... duh.....
don´t put your money on your former team....

Well in the FWL momentum can take you a long way and the players on the team seem to play better

Still early days though , look at Sacramento last year who started 5-1 then fell to 5-5

Exciting start to the season though , Week 4 probably had some of the closest games ever in one week !

Gutted i lost, very close loss to New York, their set of veteran LB's played very well

Under unusual circumstances, though--namely, having half the roster traded to London when you switched teams. Kreiner Raiding Runs aside, that sort of thing rarely happens mid-season. :)
