Title: All-time-can-never-be-beaten-record: DRAFT PICK MANIA! Post by: Mario ADK on March 03, 2007, 01:55:41 PM Currently: 43.
And counting.... i could draft an entire FWL-Team in this seasons draft.... but i am on the edge of being laughed at: can you image what happens when i got NO SLEEPER AT ALL? or the sleeper(s) i got stink? but anyway: it is just another chapter of the memorable Kreiner-Story in the FWL.... hope you have fun with me :-) Title: Re: All-time-can-never-be-beaten-record: DRAFT PICK MANIA! Post by: Paul-London on March 05, 2007, 03:22:20 AM Yeah not too happy with the situation, but then again i cant blame you, lots of teams have traded their picks to you. But i do hope this doesnt happen year after year otherwise it'll make a joke of the situation.
I like the FWL to be realistic, having a team with 3000 draft picks just to get sleepers (and say you get them all) would be very unrealistic but granted one of the greatest drafts of all time Title: Re: All-time-can-never-be-beaten-record: DRAFT PICK MANIA! Post by: Mario ADK on March 05, 2007, 04:05:12 AM Paul,
i hope all this does not end in a disadvantage for me (this season). you know that i NEVER liked this sleeper-thing but this season i was kind of bored with my team and so i treid to get a kick out of trading TONS of picks in order to get world trading champion :) Anyway: Remember that i had to pay for all those picks and i lost a lot of players, some of them quite good, in order to take a risk. I still could end up with no sleeper and everyone would laugh at me. BUT: IF i get a sleeper or two or three i expect the ratings to be fair. Regarding your text in the trades-file "...limit the picks per round...": i rathe rwould encourage you to drill down the draft to just 6 rounds or so ==> that would make both the later rounds and the FA-signings more important as teams would have to cover losses from retirements.... just an idea..... Title: Re: All-time-can-never-be-beaten-record: DRAFT PICK MANIA! Post by: Paul-London on March 05, 2007, 07:06:57 AM I created the list of sleepers before the draft so there wont be anything unfair, as you know the players i pick are normally lower skilled players who are the types drafted in the lower rounds, Jason took a gamble by taking WR Rich Muslinksi who was apparently a record breaking WR in college but i dont get that involved in their college career, a lot of time it is random. Last year i chose sleepers who did well in the real NFL Europe but a lot of people worked that out and one team chose nearly all the sleepers but because of draft picks didnt get them all
So this year was much more random, so whether they were drafted high in NFLE, had a good college career didnt matter so much, it was more random I like the 8 round draft, again i like things to be realistic so any one team having most of the picks is stupid and not realistic but its not your fault Mario at all. I just hope this doesnt happen every year otherwise it'll become a bit of a joke Title: Re: All-time-can-never-be-beaten-record: DRAFT PICK MANIA! Post by: Niki on March 05, 2007, 07:22:18 AM do we still have the negative sleepers and the hold-outs?
but Paul is it maybe not an idea to lower the number of draft rounds? because when so many people are not interested at all in their 6th, 6th and 8th round picks (or trade them away for 1 pick) I think most of the teams have 2 to 3 picks to many. If we lower the number of rounds to 6 this can solve the "problem" (as you said: it is not the fault of Mario) say next year only 7 rounds and the year after only 6 rounds (depends on how it worked out the year before) or we must find a way to increase the number of retirements but I think (almost) nobody will think this is great idea Title: Re: All-time-can-never-be-beaten-record: DRAFT PICK MANIA! Post by: Paul-London on March 05, 2007, 07:33:56 AM I'm not blaming Mario at all, dont blame him because he has such a talented team he can afford to trade away players/picks and pick up lots of lower round draft picks
In past years we havent had this problem and we've had some successful lower round draft picks in the past. I'm tempted to stop sleepers altogther then if no ones interested (apart from Mario !) trying to get them with lower draft picks. For 15 seasons its worked alright but this season looks bad as only one team seems interested in day 2 of the draft. We wont have negative sleepers (think i stopped that a season or two ago) or holdouts, the holdout was a nice idea but your at a huge disadvantage if your 1st round pick misses camp and 2 weeks of the season, kinda realistic but i hated telling whoever it was when i found out (dice throw !) It'll be a shame if no ones bothered with day 2 of the draft though |
