Title: Greatest ever ? Post by: Paul-London on February 17, 2010, 10:38:28 AM In the past there have been a handful of players who had very strong starts to their career, Paris S Israel Byrd had 6 straight seasons with 90 or more tackles when he started his career. He then went downhill after some average seasons and retired early.
Is S/CB BJ Tucker the next great defensive player ? Possibly the best all time ? Tucker is in his 8th season and has over 700 tackles and is averaging a very high amount... S14 63 t 1 int S15 103 t (led team) S16 102 t 1 int (led team) S17 98 t 1 int (led team) S18 115 t (led team) S19 117 t 1 int (led team) S20 110 t 1 int (led team) So far he has led his team the last 6 years in tackles ! A huge achievement. He is on pace to smash the all time tackling record and already ranks 19th all time with 724. He if averages 90 tackles the next 3 years he will be 3rd all time, he'll be in his 11th season and around 1000 tackles, just 42 off the all time mark. Tucker has a great chance to smash the tackle record and keep it for a long time. A lot will depend on if he continues starting for the Surge as some older players move down the depth chart but Tucker is still playing great football |
