Title: Week 2 Preview Post by: Paul-London on March 19, 2007, 05:57:43 AM Raleigh-Durham at Birmingham
Birmingham won a huge AFC East clash in Week 1 and will look to carry on their great home form against Raleigh. Raleigh didnt seem at their best in Week 1, their new revamped defensive line was very poor and they badly missed DE Greg White. Raleigh are a very good team however but their offense needs to click more as they didnt get into gear in Week 1. Birmingham will look to run the ball at Raleighs weakened line and the Skyhawks have to step it up. Birmingham by 7 Scotland at Ohio Tough opening loss for the reigning Champions against a tough Amsterdam team. They now travel to Ohio which may have looked an easier game a in the offseason but Ohio were brilliant in Week 1. New GM Gary Schofield Jnr has made some great trades and his d-line looked awesome in Week 1, HB Jarrett Payton is a gametime decision however. Scotland much like Raleigh need to get into gear sooner rather than later and cant fall to 0-2 but away at Ohio looks a tough prospect. Scotland by 3 Montreal at Sacramento Another team in trouble is Montreal who for 3 quarters last week looked great then fell apart in the 4Q against London. Sacramento had a nightmare Week 1, their offensive line was dire against Mexico and poor Rob Adamson in his first start for nearly a year since injury had no room to throw and had no rushing game to help him. Sacramento have to fix their offensive line quick. Montreal didnt play that badly last week just seemed to tire in the 4Q, they need to bounce back here as they cant fall to 0-2. Montreal by 7 New York at San Antonio Some bad breaks for New York this week losing Demoine Adams and Fred Barr. Both players will be missed and it showed as Birmingham managed to run the ball down NY's throat after the injuries. San Antonio werent great in Week 1 with QB Michael Bishop fumbling 3 times but should play much better in their home opener, NY didnt play badly on offense but could easily fall to 0-2 after this game which would be terrible. San Antonio by 3 Barcelona at Frankfurt Nice opening win for new GM Josh Roberts but he already faces a QB controversy. Dameyune Craig did run in a beautiful 40+ yard touchdown run but also threw 2 ints and looked poor throwing the ball, will Travis Brown get the start ? Frankfurt looked great in Week 1 with a brilliant 4Q comeback and should do even better at home. Frankfurt by 10 Amsterdam at Rhein Nice opening game by Amsterdam as they gained revenge for last years EFC Championship loss. Rhein played well in Week 1 and were unlucky to lose late against Barcelona. QB Dani Pengenaute was a good choice at QB but he needs a few more weeks to get back into the groove as he hadnt started previously since Week 4 last year. Amsterdam face another tough away game but should come away with the win. Amsterdam by 7 Mexico at Berlin Great game by Mexico in Week 1 as they looked one of the top teams in the AFC, they ran the ball well, passed it well and their young defense was awesome with 12 sacks ! Berlin were a surprise team in Week 1 as they played very well, QB Nate Hybl had a great game and HB Avon Cobourne surprised many. Its tough playing away but Mexico should get the win. Mexico by 7 London at Paris Great win for London in Week 1, QB Drew Henson looked great but once again the rushing attack disappeared. The defense played well and should do just s well this week against a weak Paris team but London have to run the ball. Paris just cant run the ball due mainly to their offensive line which needs to improve, QB Ryan Dinwiddie is excellent but has it all to do himself. London by 7 Orlando at Austria Austria HB Ken Simonton faces his old team and he looks on fire after a great Week 1 game. Orlando were unlucky in Week 1 but HAVE to fix their offensive line which allowed 11 sacks last week. Austria played well but not an explosive game last week against Berlin and their fans will expect more this week Austria by 14 Title: Re: Week 2 Preview Post by: Mark-skyhawks on March 19, 2007, 12:18:24 PM Well It didn't go well (week one) :-\
My QB was good My O-line were OK My HB was Alright My TE was FANTASTIC My WR's were OK My FB was Rubbish My Kicker was poor My punter was OK(Even though his stats say he was the worst in the league) My D-line were not there My LB's Plaid Great My DB's Plaid OK Overall My D-line were bad and don't seem to have enough strength, but my DB's usually :-[ Stoped them. But at least White didn't get a sack for Austria ;) I am not looking foward to week two :'( ;) Title: Re: Week 2 Preview Post by: Paul-London on March 19, 2007, 01:01:55 PM Saying that it is early days yet, some players might have a quiet Week 1 and then play much better the rest of the way or vica versa, you see that in the NFL a lot.
I would give your d line a couple more weeks yet before making any changes Title: Re: Week 2 Preview Post by: Mario ADK on March 19, 2007, 01:11:07 PM White did not only get zero sacks for Austria, more than that my D-line was like swiss cheese....
i will need to shuffle positions around and i think White will start at DE1 wheres Rasmusson will get his chance as DT...... My win was a nailbiter as Berlin missed two ultra-short FGs AND one of them came after a 1st and inches to the goalline following a 60yd-reception of Berlin, stopped inches short of the Endzone.... The only thing that worked was the Anes-Hatchette-Combo (incredbily game...) AND short yardage-situations defensive-wise.... QB: great WRs/TE: Hatchette great, the rest non existant... RBs: well..... so-so... OL: quite ok i think... DL: no pressure at all.... lost many yards against the opponentes run... LB: ok DB: quite well... All in all a shaky start..... "All in all a shaky start....." I think that is good news for everyone else in the fwl ;D ;) Title: Re: Week 2 Preview Post by: Mario ADK on March 20, 2007, 04:02:28 PM yeah... just as well as the "wannabe biggest tradingGM of all times" GM of the Skyhawks suffered a loss...
