Title: New look for FWL site
Post by: Paul-London on May 04, 2007, 05:26:04 AM
Yesterday i updated the main page of the FWL website, no one seemed to notice !!!  Didnt get one email, wheres the love !!!

You may recognise the look from another certain website ! http://www.nfl.com/

I aim to do more changes to the pages eg trades to make them look more like the nfl.com pages.

I'm happy to say i've done the Week 7 highlights, the files a huge 21 meg but its streaming so you 'should' be able to view it easily via broadband as long as you have a fast connection.

Either click the link on the website or click on the video graphic on the main page.  I was able to get a lot more highlights this week, so weird, one moment i click on FBPro and i cant view any, next minute i can view loads of them.  The hit on Danny Wuerrfel was huge, no wonder he was knocked out of the game for a while.

By the way for any non-UK people - The reason i use the song 'two tribes' by Frankie Goes to Hollywood is because in the UK in the late 80's (think 1985-1987) the NFL highlights were about 2 minutes long and they always used this song so for any NFL fans from the UK they'll recognise what i'm trying to do.  Whenever i hear the song two tribes i think of the NFL highlights you see we used to see on TV 20 years ago

Some great touchdown runs featured in the video also, Lee ReShard and Curtis Alexander who late in the game and trying to run up the middle for a few yards finds a hole and manages to go all the way

(Make sure you refresh the page when you go to www.fwl.org.uk as it may try to load up your old cache of the old site)

I hope (if i have time) to do the weekly video highlights all the time, again its so strange as the software sometimes doesnt save the highlights or other times i just cant view them, when i can i'll include them and try to make a 3 minute clip or it depends on how many i can view (Eg the week before was only Ohio/Orlando)

The fumble by Birmingham WR AJ Boone was a great play.  CB Darrell Rideaux (who was injured on the play) did an amazing tackle at the 1 yard line to force a fumble which Orlando recovered.  If that happened in the final play of the game it would have been one of the best tackles of all time

I did indeed notice Paul and thought I will email Paul and say it is very slick. Just did not get a chance to do so yet as we have had an exciting few days including Munro Jr playing in football cup final (goalie) and knackering fingers in the process. I am surprised he can type. Although he usually makes that many typos it would be hard to tell  ;D

If you older GM's recall Munro middle Jr (Johnathan) who was GM of Barcelona for many seasons he is travelling the globe at the moment and currently hopping from Vancouver to Hawaii.
Yes you too can be an international jet setter if you work hard at the FWL.

The changes to site in recent weeks have been very good , all for the better. The highlights was great but the new layout does indeed have an NFL feel. I think what I like best is that although the changes look better and slicker the navigation around the site is still really comfortable and as easy as ever, this is not always the case after some site overhauls.

Well done Paul

Ronnie
