Title: Problems ahead for London Post by: Paul-London on February 03, 2008, 07:57:47 AM With so many trades in recent years the London Monarchs have been short with draft picks. Last year London only had one draft pick in the first round, the year before only two draft picks. So its no surprise London is getting old quickly and their depth is very thin at many positions.
London this year finally have kept onto their draft picks and have a 1st, 2nd, two 3rds and a 4th. The Monarchs need to make those picks count as after retirements London has 5 spaces to fill. Age has crept up with the team also, there is a lot of young talent but the offensive line is starting to look very old. Out of the 9 offensive line positions, 6 are in their 9th or more years in the FWL, the rest are 7 years or above. The 'youngest' player on the line is 6th year pro G Scott Huff. Their LB's have been decimated with retirements, Kinnon Tatum and Brian Rogers have retired leaving London with only 4 LB's on the roster. Two of them, Jamal Brooks and Derek Curry combined for all of 3 tackles last year. Backup TE Ryan Prince retired leaving London with only one TE, Jeff Nicholson who had a major injury last year and doesnt look to have recovered fully. London still are a very good team but their depth is now very thin. They badly need help with their LB's and their offensive line who is still good will get old quickly. |
