Title: Stambaugh wants to leave NY Post by: Paul-London on February 14, 2008, 04:18:53 AM Yesterday NY's GM Jon Houston said he was leaving the team, a few hours later former starting QB Phil Stambaugh issued a statement to the team saying he wanted to leave, or he wanted a second chance with whoever the new GM will be.
Stambaugh was NY's starting QB for eight straight seasons taking the Knights to the playoffs 5 straight years and making two AFC Championship games. He was named All-FWL 3 times, and in season 15 he was named MVP of the league. In Season 17 his last starting year he was named All-FWL but then was sensationally dropped last year and benched for young QB Jason Campbell. New York slumped to a 4-10 record, their first losing season in 8 years and the boos reigned down on young Campbell. Whoever takes over the NY job has a tough choice in front of them. Do they go with youth and Jason Campbell or the experience and leadership of Phil Stambaugh a veteran ? |
