Title: London pick up two new players
Post by: Paul-London on February 23, 2008, 03:39:18 AM
Worried about their depth entering this season London traded with division rivals Barcelona for two players and traded long time starter Junior Ioane to the Dragons.  Ioane was coming off a great 11.0 sack season and has 6 or more sacks in every one of his previous 9 seasons but London wanted to have a look at DE Eric Powell.

Powell who came over from the NY Knights a few years ago has exceptional speed, when given the chance in the past though Powell disappointed.  A great training camp last year helped Powell who despite playing hardly at all (he didnt start a game all year) he finished the year with just 9 tackles but an amazing 5 sacks.  He showed great pass rushing skills finally and London hope he will deliver.  It was sad to see Ioane leave London after his great career but the Monarchs had to give Powell a chance.

With a draft pick and Ioane going to Barcelona the Monarchs picked up a TE in Yoan Schnee to challenge Jeff Nicholson for the starting role.  Schnee had 33 catches last year but the Monarchs hope Jeff Nicholson will bounce back from the terrible injury he picked up last year when he was out for most of the season.

Finally London traded for T Kareem Marshall, a huge 6"8 offensive tackle who the Monarchs will plug in next to Todd Wike.  Wike was the Monarchs best offensive lineman last year and helped pave the way for the top rushing attack in the league.  With Marshall now at the other end the Monarchs line should be even better.
