Title: Even more trades !
Post by: Paul-London on February 24, 2008, 05:09:51 AM
Saturday night was a very busy night for trades in the FWL just before the draft...

- Ohio who regretted trading LB Greg Cole last year get him back as they trade several picks to Barcelona (including the original top pick in round 2 by Barcelona) for FB Tom Jenkins and Cole who led the Dragons last year in tackles.  Surprise pickup for Jenkins as the Glory already have a great FB in Belton

- Tuttle who started last year for the Dragons moves to Raleigh who pick up another quality starting offensive lineman and their o-line is starting to look great on paper

- Topcu who led Rhein in tackles last year and had 9 sacks moves to the Dragons to take the place of Cole.  The Dragons trade last years top pick T Chris Denman and talented starting DT Bobby Setzer to Rhein

- He might have been quiet last year when he took over but Joe Scannella is going trade crazy at the moment, some great trades last night has now given him a whole host of new players plus an extra 1st round pick (5th overall). Rhein look to get some real talent with 2 picks in the first 5 choices.

- Nice trade by Frankfurt for C Will Ofenheusle.  Barcelona look to shed most of their 0-14 team from last year as it cant get any worse and trade their talented C to Frankfurt.

- The Knights have done well, they picked up last years top WR Matthew Hatchette, talented TE Ben Watson and strengthened their LB's with the signing of young Rufus Alexander who was the 3rd overall pick last year.  Alexander was hardly used last year which was a mistake as the young LB could have got a lot of experience late in the season when Rhein were clearly out of the playoffs.

- Rhein fans are still beaming about the signing of Dave Ragone.  Ragone has started a few games when Danny Wuerrfel was injured and has been excellent.  His stats for his career - 68% completion for 1097 yards, 6 td's, 1 int and a 108.6 rating.  The pressure is now on Ragone to start week in week out.
