Title: Draft review Post by: Paul-London on February 25, 2008, 03:12:38 AM A hectic 90 minutes on sunday completed the first 4 rounds of the draft....
ORLANDO Great defensive first round, they badly needed work defensively and LB Aaron Cotteral and CB Darius Vinnett should both instantly start as rookies for the Thunder. 2nd rounder DE Rodney Wormley will be a backup but could see some action. One of the picks of the day was 4th rounder James Wilhoit, the top ranked kicker in the draft and the only one taken in the first 4 rounds. RHEIN Rhein are still thin at LB but S Darnell Bing will start from day 1 and could be a very solid player for years to come. WR Peter Warrick was the top ranked WR and has a chance to also start from day 1. AUSTRIA Had the 3rd best defense last year but still spent their 3 1st round picks on defensive players. SCOTLAND Surprised many by taking the top ranked QB Jared Zabransky. Scotland have had success in the past with a top drafted QB in Craig Nall. Nall was MVP last year and he did admit he was surprised with the selection. Nall is entering his 9th season but backup Casey Bramlet is a very similar player to Zabransky and was himself a 2nd rounder two years ago. LONDON Interesting pick with 4th rounder QB Bryan Randall who slipped right down. London have their franchise QB in Drew Henson but just a former FA backup in Ryan Dinwiddie. London view Randall as a project who one day could be Hensons backup. BARCELONA A whole host of picks, most of whom will make the roster just because the Dragons have so much space. 1st rounder G Zarah Yisrael should start from day 1, 2nd rounder LB Grant Steen should also see a lot of action as should his fellow rookie and 2nd round pick LB Devraun Thompson. PARIS S Marcus Paschal is coming home ! His parents were french so Paschal is looking forward to going to Paris to probably start for the Musketeers from day 1. AMSTERDAM They have some great RB's already but FB Jake Slaughter could be a great one in the future with his speed and strength SAN ANTONIO With a defense which ranked 15th and some age creeping into the d-line the Riders chose DE Scott Scharf and LB Alex Obmese in the 1st round, both of whom could see action in their rookie year. Another two defensive players drafted in round 2 could give the Riders a great young defense in a few years time if they pan out RALEIGH-DURHAM Some great trades before the draft meant Raleigh didnt have many picks but 2nd rounder CB Greg Fassit was a good pick and could develop into a fine young CB Title: Re: Draft review Post by: jcompton-Orlando on February 25, 2008, 10:23:52 AM AUSTRIA Had the 3rd best defense last year but still spent their 3 1st round picks on defensive players. And Amsterdam had the 8th ranked defense last year and won the FWL Bowl. |
