Title: Week 5 Preview Post by: Paul-London on April 07, 2008, 03:36:46 AM London at Orlando
Tough game for the Monarchs who at 2-2 are looking poor, last week HB Joe Hall had over 100 yards rushing but 3 fumbles including two lost were the difference. Orlando will go back to HB Dee Brown this week as BJ Askew was injured in his first appearance as a starter. Orlando are a good solid team at home, if London lose this then they may be struggling for the playoffs. Should be close. Orlando by 3 Mexico at Ohio Great AFC clash coming up, Ohio have been on fire with QB John Navarre starting and HB Jarrett Payton is back to his best. Mexico are playing well despite injuries and are undefeated, should be a great game but Ohio gets the edge as they are at home. Ohio by 3 Birmingham at New York Some great games in Week 5, another is this AFC East clash. New York have been playing great on offense but cant seem to finish drives off, the Knights have a lot of talent on offense though and when they are clicking they are one of the best. Birmingham are undefeated and playing well but will need to win here as Ohio are putting the heat on them. Could be very close though as NY can explode. Birmingham by 3 Amsterdam at Raleigh-Durham Yet another game too close to call. Raleigh are back in the playoff hunt at 2-2 but now face undefeated and current champions Amsterdam. An upset could happen, the rushing game of Alexander/Battle looks great, QB Aaron Rodgers is playing well and the defense was decent for once last week. Amsterdam are a solid team however and know they need to get this away win, as with most of the games so far, we say its a 3 point ballgame. Amsterdam by 3 Montreal at Sacramento The Surge are a difficult team to predict, they do have talent, QB Drew Olsen is having his ups and downs, Carlyle Holiday is quiet this year though as is HB Kory Chapman. Montreal should get a win here as they have a methodical offense and should squeeze out a win here. Montreal by 7 Frankfurt at San Antonio Despite their 0-4 record the Riders have played well at times this year, HB Deon Anderson has been hot/cold but could be a great future star if he continues to improve. Frankfurt face a tough away game, theyve won two straight games and their passing offense is making a lot of plays, travelling away to San Antonio could be tough, Frankfurt are 0-2 on the road, 2-0 at home. They could be 0-3 on the road after this game. San Antonio by 3 Beriln at Rhein Do or die for both teams here, Berlin have been disappointing, as soon as their offense finally clicks into gear their defense falls apart. Rhein have played well in recent weeks and are looking like a top young team and could come away with the win here to destroy Berlins season. After playing in the EFC Championship last year Berlin are now amazingly 0-4 ! Rhein by 4 Austria at Paris Changes have to be made in Paris, their offense isnt playing too badly but their defense just collasped last week and they need to bounce back. Austria are 3-1 and are looking very good this year but Paris have to get back to winning ways. Changes on defense will help but Austria can play very good football all round. Austria by 10 Scotland at Barcelona Tricky game for the Claymores as they are coming off a huge win over London but now face the lowly Dragons. However Barcelona were very unlucky not to win last week and snap their losing streak and will fancy their chances here. Scotland didnt play great for most of the game last week but got the win when it mattered, they have to run the ball better in this game or there could be an upset. Scotland by 7 Title: Re: Week 5 Preview Post by: jcompton-Orlando on April 07, 2008, 11:41:35 AM I know you do your own predictions, but while we're on the subject I noticed that the software's automatic predictions ("Weekly Preview") is calling for a fair number of upsets this week.
(RD over AMS, SAC over MON, BAR over SCO) Has anybody tracked how accurate that thing is? I think it was only introduced after I stopped playing. Title: Re: Week 5 Preview Post by: Paul-London on April 07, 2008, 12:26:44 PM Yeah didnt have a look at this weeks suggestions, the computer gives the home team the benefit for most of these games, kinda right as we know its much easier to win at home but surprised at some of its predictions.
Top 10 offense and top 10 defense but i'm 2-2 ! Not good ! |
