The software seems to like giving Player of the Week honors to a losing effort more often than I would expect.

Hasn't Jason Campbell done it more than once this season? And Sherdrick Bonner did it at least once for the Monarchs.

Seriously, for the teams that fell just short this week, I have to wonder if having that kind of lucky charm on the squad might not have made the difference.

One throw, one touchdown, one victory! That's compelling stuff!

Anyway, that was a pretty great slate of games, even if we didn't get the 6-8 crazy mega-tiebreaker situation I was kind of hoping for. The Mexico game was the only one that felt like a done deal early. I really thought NY/NJ was going to pull off the upset for a while, and then London actually did it. Berlin's last-second FG seemed stunning, and Scotland's was downright gutting, until you got down to Paris's truly last-second field goal (as time expired in OT!) ... on tiebreakers, Paris really only needed to take a knee there, as an 1-0-1 record over Austria would have sufficed, but nailing the FG heightened the drama.

Austria came down with a classic case of Lytleitis in that second half. Yikes.

Has a team ever possessed the ball for less than the 20:59 Orlando did this week? That was awful.

It's gotta be Mexico in the West, whether you go with the tiebreaker the standings app is using (net points in division games) or the current NFL tiebreaker at this step:


In other words, the power points/opponent win chart tells you this. Mexico beat teams with more wins, hence a higher win percentage, so Mexico is your AFC #4 seed.

In the AFC

Mexico/Raleigh-Durham at Sacramento

Now it might be Raleigh.  Mex/Ral are 1-1 in games played between them and the division/conference records are the same so i'm unsure who goes through !

Frankfurt at Scotland

Huge loss for Frankfurt when London upset them, not only do they lose the EFC East but become the 3rd ranked playoff team so will have to travel to face Scotland who are 6-1 at home

San Antonio at Orlando

Late loss for the Riders but they seemed to be taking it easy, can Jason Compton win a playoff game ?!  The Riders play well on the road, should be a great game

Paris at Berlin

Huge leap for Berlin as they are now the EFC's top seed as they beat Scotland earlier this year, the defending champs get through a QB controversy and on the final week jump up from a wildcard team to the top spot in the EFC.  They face Paris who had an epic win over Austria, hats off to Jimmy Hanlon who created an amazing team, they had the top QB and also the top defense and are in the playoffs for only the second time in their history.  They face a tough job though against the defending champs

Oops only just seen this, i've done Week 14, its on the main site, has no spoilers and should work okay as it is (you see one game preview, you click on the link, read the play by play and then go back), you then scroll down to the next one.

Should make it exciting

In retrospect, I should have played Chapman against Orlando...I was afraid his injury would be worsened and I couldn't risk not having him for the playoffs. 

Crazy as it sounds, I did briefly consider signing Adamson...he was the Surge QB for a few seasons. 

It was a tough decision this week on Olsen, but if we win the game we have home field throughout the playoffs which is extremely important.  Olsen gives my team the best shot to win so he'll play against NY this week.

The injuries to LB Adjei a few weeks ago and to WR Bellamy last week (thanks Jason) are going to have an impact...just hope we can minimize the effects.

Here's the Week 14 viewing order I'm considering:

Orlando @ Ohio (The only game with no real playoff implications--viewing it last would be sort of anticlimactic, so may as well get it out of the way first.)

San Antonio @ Rhein (Do the Riders have a chance at the AFC's top seed? A must-win!)

New York @ Sacramento (If the Riders win, this game is huge for Sacramento. It's important to NY/NJ, either way.)

Montreal @ Raleigh-Durham (A must-win for the Skyhawks. If Montreal wins, they can wreak havoc with tiebreakers.)

Mexico @ Birmingham (Win and the Aztecs are in. If the Fire win, they can sneak in with a lot of help. Hard to say if this game or the MON@RD game should be viewed first, since the outcome of the one affects the teams in the other.)

Berlin @ Amsterdam (Keeps Berlin alive for the EFC East crown.)

London @ Frankfurt (If Berlin wins, this is a must-win for the Galaxy.)

Barcelona @ Scottish (Do the Claymores wrap up the division, or do they have to watch the scoreboard?)

Austria @ Paris (The winner is going to the playoffs--possibly even as the division champ, if Austria wins and the Claymores lost. The loser stays home. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth on the Sunday Night Football call, for certain.)
