1) QB Drew Henson
2) CB Antwaun Rodgers
3) S Eric Hill
    K Tyler Jones

London GM Paul Johns said today he thought that all 4 of his players would start for the Monarchs this year.  The team tried to shore up their weak secondary, get a long term place kicker and start afresh with a new QB.

QB Drew Henson

One of the top rated players in the draft some people were puzzled why London would take a QB when they had the talented BJ Symons already.  London however wanted a new start and with last years new GM Johns onboard he wanted to draft his own style of QB.  Henson has signed a 7 year deal with London and has already been named as the starter for this year.  Needs a bit more intelligence but overall has great skills.

CB Antwaun Rodgers

The Monarchs were surprised when Rodgers one of the top 3 rated secondary players was still on the board early in the 2nd round.  They drafted up to sign Rodgers who should see some nickleback action this year and be a starter in the near future.

S Eric Hill

Hill with similar skills to Rodgers was a surprise to still be on the draftboard in the 3rd round.  London moved up to draft Hill who like Rodgers should see some nickleback action this year.

K Tyler Jones

With no clear cut kicker the Monarchs drafted Jones in the 3rd round as their kicker for the next 10+ seasons.  Last year London alternated between Izzy Phillips who had a very poor year and young Seth Marler who was erractic.  Jones should start immediately for London.

Overall draft grade - B

interesting how team-rosters put things into perspective. Apart from Henson (which i had #3 on my list) all the other of your rookies where nowhere to be found on my draft-list:

S Rogers: #26
K Jones: #27
S Hill: not even on my list(!)

Same with LBs.....

on the other hand i was surprised that DEs Cochran and Freeman where picked quite late....

Well if you had Rogers 26th on your list he was picked 24th overall so that wasnt that bad.

Some teams draft the best player available, i have a very weak secondary and needed some new blood.  Both Rogers and Hill were the best ones available after Ford / Clark by all the ratings.

I had the kicker as the top ranked kicker and i had to get him early as i was nervous of him being drafted late in the 3rd or early 4th where i had no draft picks.

For now i have the two rookies starting but i'll see after training camp.  For a safety its important to have great ST and Hill is my hardest hitter now in the secondary, not the best speed but if he meets a RB with his ST he should make the tackle.  After a poor year last year the only way is up and i may as well start some rookies to get them some gametime.  I feel i have good fast CB's just my young safeties need some work

With a draft with not the best secondary talent because of my poor secondary i had to try and move up and get the best players i could.

I actually dont rate Jermaine Allen.  Great speed but just poor poor ST of just 80.

In the past theres hardly been any RB's who have done well with such low ST.  Brian Shay is a great example, so so quick but terrible ST and he couldnt break tackles at all.  Allen will need a lot of work and with Ken Simonton on the roster i was surprised you took Allen.

Still there are exceptions

no, that is ok

He has good ratings already apart of SP and ST (i would add AC and AG lateron....) so i can concentrade on those areas which makes progression much easier. never intended to start him already, but the timing will be picture-perfect: just when Simonton and David Allen will go, the young flock of birds will enter the sccene - well prepared:

McCullough - Delahouassay - J Allen

yup.
