EFC haves vs. have-nots (again!)

Maybe it's my skewed perception, but why does it seem that the EFC, year after year after year, is the much more polarized conference than the AFC? Over time you'd expect this to even out, particularly as GMs change or even jump conferences, yet here we are again... 5 weeks to play and in the AFC there are still at least 6 teams with completely credible playoff hopes. 8-6 might make the playoffs, so you could reasonably argue that only Orlando is really out.
Yet in the EFC... sure, the division races are separated by just a half-game, but #5 in the table is Barcelona, 2.5 games back and with no head-to-head games against the closest wild card team (Frankfurt), giving them slim hope.
We did have that one season where seemingly half the EFC finished at 8-6, but aside from that...

there are some changes,though.
Scotland replaced Rhein in the "usual top 4".
As for the rest:
FRA and AUS will always be good teams i suppose, as well as AMS..... But this is no prediction as we can see from teams in the AFC that even great franchises suffer mediocre seasons from time to time.....
But you are right:
To have a conference with a pretty clear playoff-picture after 2/3 of the season is not quite thrilling. AFC is rocking right now. EFC is not.
