Glad you enjoy it. It does get frustrating when youre losing but i must admit reading the play by plays i think is exciting. I read all the play by plays of a team i run in another league. Then because of that last year in the NFL i often read the play by play (minimise the window to make it small and read one play at a time) and makes it much better than seeing some results straight away
Obviously i watch the main game on Sky or the 'other secret' way

but then i read the play by plays of any others.
In the FWL it can be similar to the NFL, eg take your time to build up your team, a rushing attack is crucial and of course a good offensive line. Sometimes changing the OL, eg a G to a T etc can work. Ronnie from Scotland often used to rejiggle his OL and sometimes it worked very very well.
Its quite hard to go from 4-10 to 10-4 in one season, as like the NFL before free agency take your time and make good trades, draft good players, sign some FA's etc
Like you say some moves worked out very well, eg that punter and on the whole Dinwiddie i thought did very well. Pyatt at WR1 also worked out well, obviously your defense needs work but you have some decent players all over the squad, its tough youre in a hard division what with Paris and Austria
At the end of the day Rome wasnt built in a day, be patient, look for where your holes are, perhaps trade for some backups from other teams who could start on your team or who may be starting material in a seasons time. If your OL can improve your offense should be good, the defense of course needs work but the team isnt a terrible terrible one despite the record
