Columbus, OH - The Ohio Glory of the FWL have announced the grand opening of the Hall of Glory located just outside of the Ohio Stadium. "THE Ohio State University has been gracious to allow us to build a small museum and plaza to celebrate the tradition of the FWL. The new plaza will contain memorabelia from special moments throughout the team's history as well as the highlightpiece....a Hall of Glory , located in the center of the museum, that will allow us to honor former players that have left their mark on our franchise.", said a proud Glory GM Gary Schofield.
The first annual induction ceremony will be performed prior to the game and will include three inductees:
#20 Jason Wallace, CB
His records might stand for many many years. Jason Wallace was the FWL's equivalent of
Deion Sanders. He intercepted a pass in every season apart from one and is still the FWL's
leading interceptor with 16, 2 more than anyone else. Wallace was named All-FWL a record
7 times and a record 6 successive years from 1997-2002 and also made the game in 2004. When
he retired he was the FWL's leading tackler (since beaten) and interceptor (which he still is).
He also played in FWL Bowl V where Ohio lost to Frankfurt but he scored the opening touchdown
on a 50 yard interception return as Ohio shocked the Galaxy to lead early on 7-0. He started
for 8 seasons and had over 70 tackles each year before finally becoming a reserve aged 35 in
2005. Even then he made 47 tackles and an interception. His FWL record 7 interceptions in
1999 is still an FWL record and Wallace is simply known as possibly the greatest CB ever.
#17 Alli Abrew, QB
The all-time leading passer for the Glory. Still not officially retired from the FWL, however, the Glory staff will honor his contributions to the team by retiring his #17 jersey.
#88 Randy Bethel, TE
Randy Bethel never put up eye popping numbers. As a TE Bethel put
up some decent numbers but was also known as one of the top blockers
in the game. Bethel made an FWL record 5 consecutive All-FWL appearances
from 1997-2001 and narrowly missed another selection in his final season.
A fine TE Bethel for Ohio he remains one of the top TE's of all time
The original Ohio Glory team has been invited to participate in a special half time video presentation that will highlight great moments in Glory past.
