London Monarchs GM

WWW
« on: March 13, 2008, 12:36:15 PM »

LONDON - John Leake has been the defensive leader the last 3 seasons for London and in Season 17 the London defense was the top ranked in the league.  Leake has been an exceptional LB since being drafted...

S15   33t   3.0 sacks
S16   72t   6.0 sacks (3rd on team in tackles)
S17   75t   9.0 sacks (2nd on team    ")
S18   85t   4.0 sacks (2nd on team    ")

The Monarchs didnt want to lose Leake but they were offered a great deal by Amsterdam.  They picked up a 3rd round pick and also young talented DT Aaron Hunt.  Hunt was a former 2nd round draft pick of Ohio who was traded to the Admirals.  He had just 3 tackles in his rookie year but as a backup last year didnt see the field.  Hunt was pencilled in to be a backup but the Monarchs were so impressed he has jumped ahead to start leaving former 1st round pick DT Melila Purcell back to the bench.

London also picked up veteran LB Tito Rodriguez who was a former 1st round pick of Austria who was then traded to Amsterdam

S10   57t  3.0
S11   80t  3.0
S12   70t  5.0
S13   68t  5.0
S14   49t  6.0
S15   68t  9.0
S16   92t 10.0
S17   59t  4.0
S18   71t  4.0

Rodriguez is 50th in league history with 614 tackles, a 70 tackle season this year would put him potentially in the top 25.

"We are very pleased with the trade said a London spokesman.  We didnt want to trade Leake but the offer from Amsterdam was too good to pass up and we are very happy to gain these two new players and a high draft pick"
