London Monarchs GM

A late season burst from DE Mark Word who had a great final month, including 2 sacks in the final game gave him a surprising lead in the sack list for this year.  Word finished with 15 sacks to lead the league to give him his best season in 5 years.

Word is the oldest starting defensive end in the league but since being switched to DE2 a month ago he has played brilliantly with 6 sacks in the last 4 games.  Word finished his season with 30 tackles and 15 sacks in his 13th season in the FWL.

"Many GM's stay away from older players, I like to think i can show people that us vet's can still play if given the chance.  Yeah I've lost a step or two but i know the game well, look at how many sacks I have this year and our defense was ranked 7th in the league.  Us oldies can still do it" said Word.

Indeed Word was great for London this year, he took young speed-rusher Eric Powell under his wing and Powell had his best ever season with 14 sacks, Powell has great speed and showed so much potential but was very quiet in games until this year.

As for Mark Word he is undecided about his future but would like to come back for one more final season to try and reach 175 career sacks.  Word will enter his 14th season next year, will he retire ?  We will find out after the playoffs.
