Just looking at your secondary Niki i cant believe how slow it is !!

On my roster i have 8 players with 83 or more SP and 4 with 85 or more SP

On yours you only have 1 player with over 83 SP that being Younger.

Saying that my defense was dire last years and yours wasnt so i'm probably looking too much into SP for DB's !  My secondary was ranked 10th yours 3rd.

Must admit i love having speedy backups and DB's though as i think a fair few of these play on kick returns.

yeah I now it is slow, but they still play well because the overall number of the starters is more close. in fact due to downgradings of the last few years my secondary became slower and slower with the years! It is the risk I took every year and not put SP on 25 every year but around 15. but in general it explain to high compl against me as well as the number of intercetions. and to be fair my secondary can use some extra speed

Nice trade for both teams.  Pashos is a good young offensive linemen, DE Eason though is one of the best DE's in the league .  Getting a bit older but had a great year last year....

http://www.fwl.org.uk/alltime.htm#ceason

Makes your defensive line that much stronger, you have a good mix of young and old in that lineup.  Amsterdam are looking good this year already !

Lots of other nice trades going on though !!! Nice to see !

I've got a lot of work when i get back !!

Sacramento trade DT Lamanzer Williams, HB Korey Chapman, a 2nd, 3rd and 5th round draft picks for Montreal HB BJ Askew.

If Askew rushes for over 1000 yards this year the 5th round pick becomes a 4th.

Sacramento pay dearly to obtain their HB of the future.  The Surge give up on HB Mike Green who battled injuries last year, Green who does have very good skills as either HB or FB. Green rushed for 501 yards last year and missed several games with injury and caught 52 passes.

Askew has been named the HB1 starter already for Sacramento

Yet another trade !

S Devon Harper (SAC) for 2nd and 4th round draft picks and K Jimmy Kibble (Amsterdam)

Good trade for both teams.  Sacramento trade promising young S Harper to the Admirals where he should see action.  In return Sacramento pick up some draft picks and a young kicker in Kibble who might take over from 9th year K David Akers in the future.  Harper was originally a 2nd round draft pick by the Surge and won an FWL Bowl ring in his rookie year.  After that he started every year at S2 for the Surge and averaged 60 tackles a season.  Last year was the first year he didnt make an interception in a season.

One more trade between Sacramento and Amsterdam.

CB Les Donahue (AMS) for an 8th round draft pick (SAC)

Donahue who was told he would be cut before TC this season is given a new lease of life by Sacramento who might be quite thin in the secondary department.  Donahue was originally selected by Mexico in Round 5 after the 5th season of the FWL.  He was instantly traded to Paris where he saw action as a backup for 6 seasons never having more than 25 tackles in a year.  Finally he started in Season 12 for Paris and had 60 tackles.  Last year he was traded to Amsterdam where he had just 13 tackles as a backup again.  With Sacramento Donahue has a good chance to make it through camp but only as a backup.  He has played in the playoffs for both Paris and Amsterdam.

HB Mike Green (Sac) for a 3rd round draft pick (Raleigh-Durham)

Raleigh pick up their new starting RB in Green.  If Green stays injury free he could do well for Raleigh. Sacramento get another draft pick in return for the veteran who started for 3 seasons for the Surge but became expendable once BJ Askew joined the team

A MASSIVE trade in the FWL is announced:

To AUS:
1st round pick (OH)
CB Howard

To OHIO:
2nd round pick (AUS)
3rd round pick (AUS)
3rd round pick (BAR)
4th round pick (AUS)
DE Tomich

Excellent trade for both. Kreiner may have gotten a top5 pick for yet another superstar-draftee next season plus an instant starter for his totally re-invented defensive backfield, Mather gets an instant starter for the DLine plus a load of good (but not too good) picks.

Kreiner not only uploaded his pick-values (1st OH AND AUS; 2nd BAR; 3rd RAL, no 4th instead of 1-4 AUS) but seems to have a super-strong DB-squad this season. The question is: will all the player who have been traded away hurt his abality to win???

Kreiner says: NO!

Ha ha bit big headed of you to assume its a top 5 pick !!!

Ohio were 4-10 in S11, 4-10 in S12 but 6-7-1 last year and were much more improved running and passing the ball.

I wouldnt automatically say Ohio were a top 5 worst team but who knows till the season starts

Sorry to Ross,
i did not wanted to be "offensive".

In fact i think that OH will struggle a bit and therefore i hope it will be a high spot in the draft.

We will see.

Nevertheless:
To get a 1st rounder is always a special achievement, so i am really happy with this trade. You mentioned in another mail that i gave up a lot of good young future "to be drafted"-players in this draft. Paul: I have tons of good young players on my team, take a look at the roster. BUT: I need a couple of more STARS and not more "maybes". So a 1st rounder is essential in my plans to build up a winning team.

Perfect trade for me and Ross, i think. Clear win-win-situation UNLESS Ross wins his division or evven teh FWL - but i clearly do not think that will happen.......

I agree either way i can see you think you've got a better position in Round 1, Austria were a playoff team last year and are in a weak division whereas even with Ohio improving it'll be tough for them to make it to the playoffs.

But after 4 years of success the Surge fell to the worst team in the league !!!  I was surprised at my collapse last year i must admit !

Lamanzer Williams (MON) for a 2nd round draft pick (SAC)

Sacramento send the draft pick they receive from Amsterdam to Montreal to get back their former starting DT Williams.  Williams who was traded a few days ago to the Machine gets off the plane then back on again back to Sacramento !  Montreal now have 3 2nd round draft picks and look to pick up some impressive players in the next draft

Cmon Paul you must be kidding.... Do not tell me that you gave up a 2nd rounder for Williams???

Let me repeat this:
You got Askew and finally paid:

a 2nd round Rookie (HB Korey Chapman) plus
a 2nd round pick plus
a 2nd round pick plus
a 3rd round pick plus
a 5th round pick
 Shocked

Tell me it is not true, please.....  Shocked
Really a "LeviRamsey" type of trade.....

I really like Williams.  He was a 1st rounder for me previously and had 7 sacks in his rookie year but had an off year last year.  His player stats i really like as i go for players with high AG and ST.  I have 3 other starters (Haguza, Word and Sutton) and i had no one else apart from old vets who could easily be FA's.  Find me a DT in the league which i can get for a 2nd round draft pick who has better AG and ST ??

I needed Williams back really, like i say being a 1st round pick i like to normally keep these players for a long time.

HB Korey Chapman was only ever going to be a backup for me and with BJ Askew on board he was going to be a backup for 7 or so years so he was expendable.

The draft picks are quite a lot BUT i've done a lot of trades, i received two extra 2nd round draft picks because of trades and some other rounds, eg round 3 from Raleigh.

At this moment in time i have a 1st round pick, no second round pick and a 3rd round pick (From Ral).  Because i dont draft sleepers the lower round picks are no use to me.

So the only difference is i have no 2nd round draft pick yet i have HB BJ Askew who will be my RB starter for the next 7 years at least.  At the end of the day its like giving up a 2nd round draft pick for HB BJ Askew which i think is well worth it.

I dont think the deals bad at all, if anything David thought he was being too kind to me but you think the opposite !

So far i think one of the worst trades was the one you did with Ohio. CB Howard is an average CB with not the greatest speed, i think you could have picked up Howard for a 3rd or even 4th round draft pick.  Howard had 0 stats last year so thats how much Ross thought of him.  All those draft picks you gave him surprised me, 'normally' with  a 2nd round draft pick you could get an instant starter , with a 3rd round draft pick you have a potential starter in a season or two.  All those draft picks to Ohio did surprise me especially someone like Howard !  I personally cant see what you see in him.  21 tackles in his rookie year but ZERO last year.  For a lowly backup with 0 tackles i think he should have been cheaper

You may think i gave up a lot but its definately not a Levi Ramsey type of trade !!!

The key to winning in the FWL i personally think is getting a rushing attack, BJ Askew 'might' be the answer for me in that department.  As for Williams i could have perhaps got him cheaper but i wanted him whatever and i didnt want to see him going to another team.

If you look at my d-line apart from 3 starters the rest are just lowly backups/FA's....

DE Pulver - career backup
DT Aikins - Had some good years with the Knights ( http://www.fwl.org.uk/alltime.htm#cakins ) but is now on the downside of his career.
DT Barron - long time backup

A 2nd round draft pick for a starting d-line member isnt bad .

At the end of the day if all trades were good and there werent any slight risky ones or ones which gave people different views it would be boring !

I think HB Mike Green has excellent stats but didnt pan out in Sacramento, if he fits in with Raleigh the Skyhawks have a great rushing attack.

har har....

My deal would have been
Howard for Tomich plus 4th
and i think he is defenitely worth that as Tomich was backup anyway.....

Ross refused to give Howard to me for a 3rd so i took PLAN B in order to get a 1st rounder which was defenitely my focus here. So if you divide that you have 2 deals:

1st (high or med) OH for 2nd (late), 3rd (late) and 3rd (med) ==> a good one, i would always accept that trade
and
Howard plus 4th for Tomich. As a 5yrer Tomich is a backup and Howard is a 2yr starter for my team (and i needed more DBs as i only got 7) i liked that trade as well..... Without my plan B i would have offered Howard plus 6th an Ross might have taken this but i wanted to get it done quickly....

Compared to
Three (2+1) second rounders plus a 3rd plus a 5th
for Askew who was acting as backup for Montreal with 1 rush for a total of 1 yds and 0 yards for 0 runs the season before........
Cmon......

Remember: Montreal offers 6 or 7 DLs so they should come cheaper than when you as for one of them...

We see our trades in different ways and that is ok, but Paul in my personal opinion the one you did was just like Levi was among us....
