play of the week
«

even do my team lost this week and my kicker missed a PAT I think he had the play of the week:
Amsterdam's ball on their 30 yard line. First and 10 to go. 10:28 left in
the third quarter. The score is Amsterdam 13, Raleigh-Durham 17.
Amsterdam's K1 #4 Todd France kicks off to Raleigh-Durham's WR4 #81 Chris
Brazelle. Brazelle returns the kick for 23 yards. Brazelle fumbles the
ball. The ball is recovered by France. France runs for a gain of just over
1 yard. France is tackled by WR1 #85 Robert Baker. First down, Amsterdam!
First and 10 to go. That was Kickoff (90) against Kickoff (86).
Amsterdam's ball on Raleigh-Durham's 18 yard line. First and 10 to go. 9:50
left in the third quarter. The score is Amsterdam 13, Raleigh-Durham 17.
Brazelle had a return of 23 yards to its 19 yds line. France did 51 yarsd in teh same time and had time to recover the ball!
Ofcourse so far I only analize my own play by play so I do not not what other great plays have been braodcasted this week

what is so strange about this? KORs are usually tackled at the 20 or 25? Don´t get your point.

so far I can remember I have never seen before that the kicker recovers the ball on kck off return. besides most of the times the kicker stays at the back field on KO return

oh i see. i do not think that in FWL the kicker stays in his own backfield. But with his rather unreal speed ans acceleration it should be easy for France to be almost as quick as the rest fo the team. And you do not need to be teh fastest to recover a fumble, you need to be at the right spot.

Yeah strange play, most kickers in the NFL always stay back so they dont get injured. Great play by France, think the first time i've seen this happen

that is my point, to stay in back field to get not injuried.
@Mario: I know his SP and AC are very high, my opinion is that it will help with FG's and PAT's, a slow kicker has more chance that kicks will be blocked, i did not realize that he would be also in the middle of the battle during a kick off return. I agree that recovering a fumble is being on the right spot at the right time but It helps when a player has a high SP AC and IN. His reaction will be faster so more "luck" to recover the ball

Yep its vital a kicker has decent sp otherwise his kicks will get blocked more often, not so important nowadays (still is though) but in the old days kickers/punters were getting blocked week in week out, if anything it was a bit over the top so i'm glad we're back to a 'normal' special teams in the FWL, eg the odd punt return, not so many blocks etc.
Still a pity only one person ever has returned a kickoff for a touchdown !
Jason Shelley returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown in Season 2
However the longest kick return ever was last year, Austrias WR Keykowo Bell of 97 yards ! I presume he must have got pushed out at the 1 yard line or something !

I think between the 1 and 5 yds line, since most kick offs are kicked in the endzone and those yards are included in the return.
But it is a shame we only had 1 kick off return, but I think that is because we are not able to pick our kick off returner, now most kick off returns are done by WR3 or WR4.
Most WR on spot 3 and 4 have not super skills, so I doubt if we will ever have a td from a kick of return

Well i also think most backup defensive players are faster and faster, the guys who play on special teams are very quick nowadays.
I'll check out the special team players if people are interested...
Kicking team (from left to right)
CB2 S3 TE1 S2 K1 WR4 HB2 WR5 HB1 LB2 CB3
And the return team...
From top to bottom...
CB2 LB3 LB2 LB4 CB3
TE1 HB2 HB3 TE2
WR3 WR4
Interesting the starting HB and TE are on the kickoff !

this is in interesting info, since I had no idea how the exact line up of the kicking teams is!
is it possible to change it per team?
do you also have the line up by a FG attempt for both sides and (maybe now I am pushing) also the line op with a punt?
I know it are details but when the details makes the differences in close games

Well you wont be able to change who plays where unless you change your roster, eg put a fast HB at HB3 etc.
The FG's i assume are the same, be surprised if that changes.
I tried looking at a punt but everytime i pressed replay my game of FBPro crashes. It does that a lot for the highlights of every game

the return formations are somehow part of the defense playbook
So if we could use the team defenses then we would get their
PR and KOR formations also.
Then even a CB could be the KOR and PR !
But that would have to be published for each team.
Else the GMs without the game are in a disadvantage.

But we now use all the same defense playbook! so if we know what thh formation is, is equal to all so no team is in disadvantage, at least that is how I see it!
If we will also play in the future with various kinds of defense playbooks, maybe it is an idea to include this kind of information in the explanation (as Ross did for the off) that way people that do not have the game also have this kind of information

If someone can create a guide like Ross did for the offensive gameplans (eg a Excel spreadsheet) then we can use defensive gameplans.
Just for now its unfair unless theres a guide

Now THAT has to be the defensive play of the week:
Scottish's QB1 #16 Craig Nall gives to HB1 #35 Ken Shelby. Shelby runs for a
gain of almost
61 yards
. Shelby is
tackled by Austria's DE1 #75 Buck
Rasmussen.
Scottish's ball on
Austria's 1 yard
line.
But i am not done yet with that crazy drive, here it continues:
Scottish's ball on
Austria's 1 yard line.First and goal.
6:45 left in the
fourth quarter. The score is Scottish 7, Austria 13.
Scottish's QB1 #16 Craig Nall
runs for a short loss
. Nall is tackled by
Austria's CB2 #20 Todd Howard.
Second and goal
.
Scottish's QB1 #16 Craig Nall
runs for a loss of almost 2 yards
. Nall is tackled by Austria's DT2 #67 Lauvale Sape.
Third and goal
The pass from Scottish's QB1 #16 Craig
Nall was incomplete
. G2 #79 Cornell
. Fourth and goal.
So:
A DE(!!) makes a TD-saving tackle at the own 1yd-line after a 61yds-burst and the D holds.
Incredible.

Wow well done for finding that !
Crazy play ! I remember seeing some old Dallas Cowboys highlights and DT Randy White ran downfield about 50 yards to tackle Eagles WR Harold Carmichael once which was an amazing play.
On that run perhaps it was one of those where instead of sprinting he had a blocker in front and he was following him etc so he wasnt going full speed, amazing play by Rasmussan though.
I always thought he was one of the top DE's in the league, glad you left him at DE1 not move him to DT1. Rasmussan has great speed and is an awesome pass rusher, as you can tell by his speed when he caught this RB ! Amazing play
