Ever met one of your players?

Slightly off topic, But has anyone ever met one of the players in their team or even played with/against them?

Reading the thread about TE Jeff Nicholson I rememebered that I have played against him a couple of times.

I once stood behind Scott Couper in the queue at the local sandwich shop! He (or his FWL alter-ego) has never been on the Paris roster, however.

You never played in the Monarchs vs Claymores flag football team a fair few years back did you ??  Outside of Murrayfield during the Dameyune Craig year ? (was it 1999 ?)

nope afraid not, was there that day though.

I play football for Glasgow Tigers, Scott played the year he retired from NFLE (the 2nd time) and Jeff used to play for Edinburgh Wolves.

Oh no worries thought you may have played on the other team.  A coach load of Monarch fans came up, average age 45 and there was to be a flag football game against the Claymore fans.  Most of the Claymore fans were proper players !

I went to practice that morning to have a look, huge hangover and threw the ball, after that they said i was the QB !  Had a great laugh, lost 18-0 but were unlucky on a few passes , a clip of action from it was on Channel 5 in between when they showed NFLE highlights.

My mate converted it to a video file years ago....

Theres 3 clips, i'm the Monarchs QB in clip 1 and 3.  Nice scramble in the first clip but the pass a fraction too long !  Had no OL protection though ! In the third clip i hit my WR and he then accidentally hit a DB (broke his nose !)

Sure i've showed people this before, ahhh 1999 cant believe how long ago that was now !

I have not met many players who play for my Skyhawks I think the only one is
Anthony White the HB but I have met plenty of Claymores such as Dante Hall,
Kevin Daft ,Dameyune Craig and Scott McCready in the club room after games

I met one of your players, I was even able to talk with him in Dutch well I even know him when he was playing soccer for Roda JC and Sparta

Think i mentioned this before, the real Rod Trafford emailed me to say make his skills better in the FWL !  I think Mario heard from Marc Lillibridge once.  I used to talk (email) to the dad of Curtis Shearer (ex NFLE Dragons player and FWL Admirals player) which was interesting as Shearer was in camp with the Niners playing with Rice/Young etc.

As the officially designated memory for Niki when we are on tour, yes we've talked to many of the players who've played for the real Admiralsover the year. BBQed with some of them, and been to the pub with some of the others.

There are even a few we've stood at mid-feield with for a coin toss when we all went to three games in one weekend.

Silvio Dilberto is one, for sure many, many times. Ian Rafferty was another who came to a BBQ.

Rhein has Tobias Oberzeller as WR4.
He never was a NFLE-player (and i do not know how he ever became a FWL-rookie) but he was one of the best receivers in Austrian football and i played "against" him (as far as receivers can play against each other).

Nowadays we both play Flag and now we really play "against" each other as we play both ways and last time we met he was man-man covering me all game long when i was offense and vice-versa.

His biggest moment came when a TD-catch of an Austrian Bowl game was even shown worldwide in CNN sports as "play of the day" (no kidding, it is true!)

But once again: He never played NFLE, he just is a FWL-player so that is why i mentioned him here....

At Frankfurt Galaxy Homegames I was able to get close to some players.

Exchanged some words back then with QB Steve Pelluer and RB Ingo Seibert, both on my FWL roster
before week one of season 1 :-)

Regarding Oberzeller, he may have been at NFLE tryouts.

While I was running the CWL as a league for the FWL rookies to develope I took players
from many sources. WLAF/NFLE rosters of course, but as well CFL and XFL rosters,
World-Championships, Euro-Bowl competitions, Junior Bowls, Tryouts, I even sometimes
did lists of players from the last NFL-training camp cuts in summer and practice squads,
because they were candidates for the FWL.

Finding names is allways tough especially if the FWL is outside the NFLE season.

May be he entered my list as EuroBowl winner ;-)

I didn't play that day, but I was there - as possibly the biggest space cadet in NFLE history.I had gone on the Friday to Barcelona for the Amsterdam @ Barcelona game and then partied all night with the Dragons fans - being bought beer by Mike Maslowski all night after he had three picks that night. I then flew from there to Glasgow via London Heathrow with them Dragons/Claymores/Admirals overseerer Bill Peterson. The biggest trouble was he got me upgraded to Business Class for thsoe flights so I could carry on drinking.

Children don't try this at home.
