Well the timeline is roughly...

After the final (FWL Bowl XV) trades can start being discussed and processed

Soon after retirements are announced (so some teams wont trade much until then)

Then after the retirements trades normally hot up

The draft list will be published so you work out who you want to draft

Then we have a live draft (if you cant make it send in your picks) and then we have training camp

In Training camp you assign points to improve players, some players will decline when the new season is started (when we run retirements).  Some veteran players will go down in skill but i'm a firm believer if a player can play, eg gets 80 catches per year then dont worry if hes a 10th year player or not.  If a 9th year LB gets 80 tackles and 4 sacks then dont worry about his declining skills.  Obviously some players who are older will decline but its like the NFL, there may be a faster better stronger LB but if you have a vet who makes plays then keep him

Nothing stops you from _discussing_ trades (and you can bet that the league's big movers are already buying their packets of crisps and eyeing draft choices and promising young players) but the league won't _process_ them until after the Bowl. If there's a deal you'd like to at least work out in principle, better contact the GM in question now. It won't be binding, but better that than getting the dreaded "Oh, I'd like to do that deal, but I already promised Sally..."

Yeah good point by Jason.

Feel free to discuss trades, i wouldnt publicly talk about them in case team x offers more etc.  Good time to get the ground work in though

Take your time to look at the weak spots in your team and then either make some big trades to solve that or look for some talent on another team who may have great WR's so can easily trade their WR4 etc who you want.

Trading really can be good and its very exciting.  Just leave yourself with some draft picks !  (Can also trade Season 16 draft picks)
