It is still unbeleveable.

A team, trailing by 13 with 5 minutes to go.......

........facing the leagues best defense......
.....without their injured WR1......
.....and without their injured WR4....
.....so that a WR5 had to play his first down of his life....

...made it due to a guy who never caught a ball in his entire - but short - carreer: Rookie WideReceiver Efrem Hill. So: Who is he?

Efrem was on the draft list this season, but he found himself no team, saw himself landing on the FA-list so he almost decided to take over his fathers bakery in Memphis, Tenn.
ADK-GM Kreiner did not pick him either, but just before Tranings Camp he made up his mind regarding young WRs and contacted Efrem and offered him an apple and an egg...
Efrem accepted, knowing he would have to wait possibly forever to get a chance to play in the high-profile ADK-Offense...
And suddenly here it was: The chance of his lifetime:

When WR4 Brown was injured with 6:10 left in the 4Q he entered the field for the first time in his carreer. Already in the red-zone QB Anes first found HB Simonton for a short pass but on second down he saw Efrem on the right side of the Endzone, fired a pass and Efrem Hill not only caught "a" pass but he caught a VERY important TD in an EFC-Championship game with his first career-reception with just 5:11 left to play....

Austria stopped Amsterdam and had to go all the way to win the game. And here he was again: Efrem Hill and the minutes that might change his life:

A catch of 5 yds with 2:21 left to go......
A catch of 7 yds with 2:00 left to go......
A catch of 8 yds with 1:54 left to go......
A dropped pass with 1:34 left to go......
ADK converted a crucial first down with a pass to Moore on 4th down as the Efrem-show continued:
A catch of 7 yds with 1:09 left to go......
A catch of 6 yds with 0:41 left to go......
and after ADK scored (and missed the XP) Efrem stepped up again:
A catch of 18 yds in OT.... followed by some good passes and runs and a final catch by Efrem of 5 yds in OT.....
...and suddenly ADK found themselves in FG-Range and converted.....

The unknown WR5 Efrem Hill caught 8 out of 9 passes thrown to him within a couple of minutes, with 5 catches within 100 seconds in the dying minutes of the 4th quarter.

Efrem Hill, a true incredible FWL-Story and a true ADK-Hero...

Knowing you Mario you'll probably cut him ! Wink  Alli Abrew was a great story last year, you signed him as a FA, started him and he threw 3 td's but then was cut !

The computer does seem to sometimes go to a WR4 or WR5 late in the game, i presume theyre against single coverage but either way with Hatchette out i'm still surprised they went so low down on the pecking order.  Amazing game by Hill

Answer is simple....

WR  Hatchette, Matthew          P-1 Turf toe (wk 16)
WR  Brown, Antonio                 P-1 Sore knee (wk 16)

... thus the playing time.

Good point, forgot Brown was injured also.  This time its obviously quite useful to have some half decent backups !

Yep, David is right i got those 2 players injured at the time of the "Efrem-Hill-Show". I even think that TE2 Schnee was playing as "regular WR" when he caught those 2 long passes in OT because in a 4-receiver-set i only would have 3 WRs.....

Hill will stay with the team because he is a rookie, Abrew was a one-timer just like Bonner will be cut after the season. He won´t be promoted in the big game, he remains at WR5. I do not want to push my luck too far....

In a lot of offenses TE2 can catch some very deep passes.

Look at the Riders backup TE Pete Muther this year...

11 catches for 257 yards, 3 td's !

In the early years of the FWL we had a lot of major injuries in the playoffs, one of the most famous was Mexico Aztecs QB Damon Allen.  he was the 3rd stringer and after Ward was injured the Aztecs then had their backup QB (think it was Powlus) get injured in the AFC Game.  Allen came in late and won the game then started the FWL Bowl a week later.  Performed very well in a loss but he hardly saw any action the next season or two and retired.
