Nice post by you Niki.
I must admit i wanted Amsterdam to win (Sorry Mario!) but it was an epic game and i'm glad the EFC Game was such a classic. One of the best in years. I can imagine in the FWL they use the same prevent defense as they do in the NFL, eg prevents the team leading from winning
The loss of Huerta i think was huge, Smith has been good but in the playoffs has been quiet. Quite often in the NFL the team who loses the AFC or NFC game the year before then makes it to the Superbowl the following year, happened quite a lot in the FWL, eg Austria losing last year in a nailbiter to Frankfurt and now this year getting to the final
Anyway nice response, believe me round playoff time you get angry GM's year after year !

Hi Niki,
thanks.
Luck was not on your side and injuries made the difference. As i said in my initial post your performance deserves deepest respect. you did not come out loser but just as "2nd winner" as you won your division and tied the w/l-record.
Nevertheless this game was among the top5-"best moments" in my FWL-Career and it was quite funny when my kids came storming into my room and asked "daddy, what is wrong with you?" when i screamed out loud when Anes connected for the TD with 16 secondes left and once again when the FG was good.....
Boy, what a game.....

I'm totally addicted to reading play by plays and i do that in Davids league he runs.
I knew as soon as i sent you the play by play that it was going to be amazing for you to read, pity Niki was away as i would have sent him the play by play also.
Games like that are brilliant when you read the play by play
During the NFL season now for games i dont watch on TV instead of instantly seeing the score on the NFL scoreboard i have the link for each play by play for the other games and refresh those and read them

well normally I am in a bad mood after a loss
but this time it was something else, ofcourse I hoped I won the game but looking at my last couple of games I knew I would have a problem when I lead at half time. my team then will run and without Huerta that is not a good plan
any way: I beat Frankfurt three times this season
I won 14 games, what else do I want
It was a close game, with will be a lot fun to read (I will do that tomorrow after I finally got some sleep)
But I must admit I was a shame I was away this weekend but I just could not wait till monday to know the score

Yep the play by play for that game was one of the most exciting ever. You should have gone to a cybercafe and read it !
When i ran the game (you see the scores come up quickly) when i saw 20-7 then a late touchdown 20-14 and then it go to 20-20 i thought it was a last second Austria win, that blocked XP was huge.

that was my original plan
but when I go to an away game of the admirals I have to much things on my schedule on to less time!
Ps: Mario next time you have to warn your kids when you read the play by play of a game between the Admirals and Austria for some reason they are always very close

Next season still looks to be a great one in the EFC
We have the powerhouses Austria and Amsterdam, some very good teams chasing the pack in Scotland, Frankfurt (who i'm sure will bounce back) and Rhein who did have a good year.
I hope to bring London back to winning ways, Barcelona were decent until late in the year, i'm sure Paris will make some changes and if Berlin play some of their younger players they could bounce back. Looks to be the usual set of teams on paper but who knows

My agents are still waiting to hear back from the league's scheduling people... because, yes, it would be nice to know if I'm going to play the team and if so start thinking about the moves I would need to make, and if not, Paul can find someone less picky than me who can start doing the same.

Well the new schedule is revealed when i click on the 'start new season' button so we'll find out then if theres a NY vs Austria clash on the cards. I've spoken to Mario who seems to be 50/50 about it.

the PC won´t crate any AUS-NY-schedule as it has not done that for years.
you would have do it by hands.
i told you what i think about it:
1) No, i do not like the fact that - after 15 seasons - we would change schedules
2) and even if we are "forced" to create a regular AUS-NY-matchup by hand for "important reasons" i would only accept home-games against NY just for the sake of Jason.
But basically i am against re-scheduling because suddenly every GM could start to moan about his schedule and say "i want this, i want that...."
Sorry, Jason....

Well thats fair, i do get your point. A loss to a strong NY could affect homefield advantage/divisional title etc etc. But then again be great to get Jason back in the league
I am a firm believer in not changing what the computer does, i know not all the All-FWL teams might make sense, some of its decisions for MVP's etc have been controverisal (S Deke Cooper ?) and sadly many of the games on each schedule are the same year after year
We'll give it some time but perhaps a european GM 'might' move teams to NY ? Not much happens between now and the retirements are announced (trades) so we'll see then what the schedule does. I did notice that Aus/NY faced each other many many years ago so its possible they might do.

The schedule depends on what position in your conference you sit.
So moving Austrai from lets say #3 to #4 could do the trick.
Just trade places with Barcelona in the league setup (they played NY each of last 3 seasons)
The 12 games in the EFC remain the same only the 2 AFC matchups would be different.
It may affect home/away games against the EFC East but i.e. in the same 3 seasons
(since the last league change) Frankfurt played 2 times in Austria and once they visited us.
Barcelona was just the other way around.
So its possible, but if you like the result is something different

Well its a catch 22, i want Jason back in the league but i can understand if Mario didnt want to face NY. I wouldnt want to face a 12-2 team if i had to, yes its only one game but say Austria lost out on homefield or the EFC West title by one game (because they lost to NY) then that could cause problems.
Also i think Jason wants to play Austria every season so again perhaps problems. If i was Jason i would talk to Barcelona or Paris to see if they wanted to move to NY and take over an EFC West team ?

that is so correct, like the conference we are in always plays an away game in week 1, since amsterdam has never been in an other conference (well by name) we are the only team that never played a home game in week 1.
The conference of Mexico, SA, Montreal, Sac and R-D always have one team that only plays one game against each of the other teams in the conference.
I agree with Mario, it is this way like 15 seasons, why should we change it on request, it is not fair to other teams, I think

Well nows the chance for anyone to move teams if they want to, someone from the EFC might want to move to the AFC and someone from the AFC might want a new challenge to go to the EFC
Must admit its hard to leave your team though, i keep checking Sacramentos stats when i load up some pages and then a split second realising i should be looking at Londons !

No, I just wanted it this one time. I'm pretty disappointed that, rather than embrace the long-running competition between us, Mario is whining about the prospect of actually having to play me when I might potentially have good players. Forget the whole thing, then.

Well i must admit i think those two teams stand a good chance of meeting in an FWL Bowl at some stage.
I dont blame Mario for 'whining' which i dont think hes really doing , i would just say that in a tight conference if he didnt have to play a 12-2 team he wouldnt really want to and i dont think many other sides would be on for playing a 12-2 team if they didnt have to.
Marios faced London when the Monarchs have been the better side (when he took over Austria for the 2nd time) and didnt moan, just in the league at the moment one extra loss could be a big difference.
