The fact that Frankfurt opened the year at 2-0 on the road has to put them in pole position for the EFC championship. Win on the road, and success usually follows. That's the rule in most years, and has been for the last seven seasons.

However, I was surprised to find that there have been nine teams in the 20-season history of the league who recorded a winning away record, but failed to make the playoffs. Some were due to abysmal home performance, while others appeared in seasons where five or even six conference teams had winning away records--and obviously, they can't all make it...

Missed Playoffs With Winning Road Record In Regular Season
* Barcelona Dragons, Season 13 (6-8 overall, 4-3 away record)
* Ohio Glory, Season 8 (9-5 overall, 5-2 away)
* Birmingham Fire, Season 8 (6-7-1 overall, 4-3 away)
* San Antonio Riders, Season 7 (7-7 overall, 4-3 away)
* Barcelona Dragons, Season 7 (6-8 overall, 4-3 away)
* Scottish Claymores, Season 7 (5-9 overall, 4-3 away)
* Amsterdam Admirals, Season 6 (8-6 overall, 4-3 away)
* Amsterdam Admirals, Season 5 (6-6-2 overall, 4-3 away)
* Scottish Claymores, Season 2 (8-6 overall, 4-3 away)
