BARCELONA GET A NEW QB
Finally former Skyhawks QB Travis Brown gets his ticket out of town. Brown started as a rookie with the Skyhawks and was Rookie of the Year after a very good season, he then came back the next year and threw for over 3,700 yards but both seasons the Skyhawks had a poor losing season, so bad the 2nd year that Raleigh finished as the worst in the league and picked QB Aaron Rodgers and Brown was relegated to a backup. Brown has great scrambling ability and despite a low wonderlic score he has proved that he can play in the FWL. Brown was today on the eve of training camp traded to Barcelona in a great move for both clubs, Dragons starter QB Dameyune Craig is in his 13th season and despite looking very good still theres a great chance he will retire next year. Brown might take over this year or next but Barcelona have sorted out their QB issues.
LONDON TRADE WITH AUSTRIA
These two old rivals dont trade with each other much but this week London sent 3 draft picks to Austria for CB Erwin Swiney and two rookie LB's. The key for the deal was CB Swiney who despite being a backup with Austria has done well and had 34 tackles and an int last year. Swiney will see action as a backup DB with London and should do well. The Monarchs have some stars in the secondary but didnt have very good depth and Swiney will help shore up a weak secondary. The two LB's are a risk as both are very raw but with a lot of roster spots free in London (They had 3 free places) they needed to fill up the roster before training camp, they may even add a veteran player before TC tomorrow.
RALEIGH GO TRADE CRAZY
Skyhawks GM Mark Munro has been mentioned as 'Kreiner Jnr' after he had an amazing 5 trades in one day yesterday. Raleigh seem to have the upper hand in most of their trades but the trade of TE Bobby Blizzard was a risky one as Raleigh appear to be quite weak now at TE. However with 3 1st round picks for the next draft the Skyhawks could be a team to watch in the future.
LONDON PICK UP VETERAN DEES
The Monarchs traded a 6th round draft pick to Frankfurt on the eve of training camp to pick up veteran safety Dempsy Dees. Dees who can play CB or S has been with Frankfurt for 8 seasons since being selected in the 5th round and was the active leading tackler on the Galaxy roster. Dees has been excellent the last 3 seasons with 72 tackles (2nd on the team), 72 tackles again (2nd on the team) and a career high 80 tackles last year (2nd on the team yet again). The defense in Dees 8 seasons has ranked in the top 10 every year apart from one. The Monarchs GM did not say if Dees would get a starting job on the team but said he will see a lot of action and his veteran leadership will help the young Monarchs secondary.
