Orlando at Birmingham

Its coming up to the halfway point of the season and its time for teams to make the push for playoff spots.  Birmingham have been disappointing this year, their offense hasnt been too bad but their defense has slipped and at 2-4 the Fire have to get some wins together.  For Orlando its been a terrible year but they actually havent played too bad recently, their offense is 8th and defense 12th, not terrible stats for a 0-6 team.  They have been close in recent weeks, new HB BJ Askew is talented but cant seem to gell with his new teammates yet.

Mexico at New York

Both teams returned to winning ways this week, this is a tough game for the Aztecs as they travel to New York where the Knights are undefeated this year.  New Yorks defense has been dire this year and is ranked next to last.  Mexico will have a hard job however on the road, they are the better team but the Knights homefield advantage will help them a lot.

Montreal at Ohio

Former Machine QB Mike Pawlawski returns as starter for Ohio after sitting out the last 4 weeks due to injury.  In his place Kurt Kittner played well (2 game winning streak) but Pawlawski offers the team something more.  Montreal have played very well lately and are 5-1 and leading the tough AFC West.  Ohio are undefeated at home and their d-line is playing superbly and their defense leads the league in sacks.  Should be a great clash between two very good AFC teams.

Sacramento at Raleigh-Durham

Must win game for both teams, the Surge currently have  2 game winning streak after starting the season 0-4, Raleigh did everything but win against Rhein last week outgaining them a huge amount in first downs and yards but somehow lost.  Sacramento are winless on the road, Raleigh however are 2-1 at home and badly need the win here.  Whoever loses here will kiss the playoffs goodbye

San Antonio at Frankfurt

The Riders seem to start a new offense every week, they have been quite erractic so far this year, Michael Bishop was dire two weeks ago, then last weekend he had a huge game as the Riders went to a pass happy offense.  Frankfurt have lost two straight games for the first time in many many years and the offense has looked very sluggish and was thrashed last week against Amsterdam 31-7.  San Antonio were 3-0 but have lost 3 straight, Frankfurt have lost two straight.  Can the Riders and Galaxy turn it around ?  Frankfurt get the edge because of home advantage.

Rhein at Amsterdam

Slowly but surely the young Rhein Fire are playing better, HB Tony Hollings is stil struggling on the ground but that could be because of a poor o-line as hes a threat in the passing attack.  Young QB Jared Allen had his best game ever last week with 3 td's and 0 ints and might have turned the corner.  Amsterdam however are 6-0 and possibly the best team in the league, they've allowed just 61 points in 6 games and at home and against Rhein they could have a field day.

Paris at Berlin

Berlin have done very well this year, they could easily be 3-3 but lost in the final seconds to London last week, at 2-4 theyre still playing very well, QB Nate Hybl was having a good year but was poor against London but they do have the top defense.  Paris are a team in a mess, they have injuries at HB and the defense is doing nothing and they could be on for a 0-14 season if they dont make changes soon.

Barcelona at London

London nearly slipped up last week and only won due to a huge 4th down conversion which set up a late FG for the winner.  Barcelona at times this year have played very well but are quite hot/cold.  QB Dameyune Craig is making too many mistakes and its only a matter of time till he is benched.  After a promising 2-2 start theyve lost two straight games.  London are 6-0 but some of the cracks may be beginning to show, starting QB Drew Henson is injured and probable but will start this weeks game.

Scotland at Austria

The Sunday Night game features a great EFC West matchup.  Austria have been quiet this year as has their GM and they lost last week in a huge game against Montreal.  Austria however are 3-0 at home this year and have played well, Scotland 1-2 on the road.  The Claymores look a far better side thatn previously in the season, the last two weeks their defense has played very and has shot up from last in the league to 12th in the space of a week.  Austrias QB Curt Anes has been on fire this year and is the only QB with 10 or more touchdown passes.  Two games behind London, Austria badly need to get the win here.
