Culumbus, OH - After a year in which GM/Owner Gary Schofield remained rather quiet and allowed his team to take center stage, it was strange to see the theatrics of a last minute trade before the draft.  "I thought O would stay out of the spotlight last season and see what the players could do.  However, after getting bounced in the first round, AGAIN, by Mexico.  I promised myself, the staff, the players, and most importantly the fans that it wont happen again!"

Schofield has dealt 4 draft picks to the Barcelona Dragons in return for LB Greg Cole, who will return to Ohio after a surprising trade last year and FB Jenkins.  "We needed to strengthen the LB corps and get some depth at FB.  I think this trade did that better than anything I would have gotten with those picks", said a confident Schofield

After several questions about the stability of Head Coach Doug Planks job, Schofield bluntly stated that "no one, and I mean no one is safe unless we get some playoff production.  Sure we are 19-9 in the last two years but more importantly we are 0-2 in the playoffs.  Our team is not getting any younger and I made some moves taht I thought would get us over the hump and pretty much sacrificed the draft this year to do so.  So I guess Im saying we better win.."

Schofield also stated that he would be saving next seasons draft picks and that if the team gets off to a rocky start you could see some high value players (Payton?, Josiah?) be moved in order to stockpile more draft picks.

Either way, win or loss, it will be a fun year in Columbus with the return of an active owner!

Cole is a great LB, he was one of the few bright spots for Barcelona.

So going into the draft, Barcelona doesn't have the personnel to run the 4-3. Wow.
