Week 2 Preview

Raleigh-Durham at Orlando

Orlando narrowly lost in Week 1, for Raleigh it was a close game late in the 4Q but then Curtis Alexander ran in for a huge touchdown. Orlando are a young talented side, they have a lot of new players and it may take a few weeks for them to know each other. Raleigh had a great win in Week 1 and will have momentum but travelling away to Orlando could be tough.

Scotland at New York

Nice overtime win by the Claymores last week. For New York with so many new starters on offense it may take some time for them to be firing on all cylinders. They outgained Ohio last week in first downs but failed to score more than 9 points. Watch for NY to explode this week against a tough Scotland side.

Mexico at Sacramento

The loss of HB Eric McCoo is huge for Mexico, how they rebound will affect their whole season. The players have McCoos number on the back of their helmets as they are all wishing he returns next year but the injury could be career threatening. Sacramentos Drew Olsen is the starter this year at QB, he had some good moments last week but against the Machine it would be tough for anyone.

Birmingham at San Antonio

The Riders need to rebound from their Week 1 loss against a tough Birmingham side. San Antonio have a good mix of young players and veterans on their team and with all their draft picks they have they could be one to watch in the future. Birmingham werent at 100% last week and looked rusty but still got the win, this should be close.

Paris at Amsterdam

Amsterdam might turn over their starting role to DeJuan Green who was excellent last week when Sha-Ron Edwards was injured. Perhaps Edwards might be traded to Mexico ? Amsterdam had some early jitters but came back to win against the Dragons, Paris left it late against Rhein until two 4Q touchdowns but will find the going toughter against the Admirals. Newcomer LB John Leake had a great game for the Admirals leading the team in tackles.

Frankfurt at Rhein

Tough away game for the Galaxy who are coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss. If Rhein could fix their offensive line they would be very good, HB Tony Hollings cant get it done on the ground but proved hes a great receiver, he has talent just no o-line helping him. Frankfurt need to bounce back with a win here but the german derby is often very close.

Montreal at Berlin

Berlin looked poor in Week 1, Austria totally stuffed their rushing attack. At home they should be far better but welcome Montreal who are a very tough team on offense and defense. Should be a great battle between two playoff teams from last year. Berlin get the edge because of homefield.

London at Barcelona

London will be devastated by last weeks loss at home, they know they badly need to win their home games to make the playoffs this year. This game could actually be tough, Barcelona are 0-15 in their last 15 games but London coming off their loss late to Mexico could be shellshocked away in Barcelona. The Dragons still cant seem to run the ball but considering all their young players starting they played well against Amsterdam, London should win but could be a surprise.

Ohio at Austria

Jason Compton got off to a great start with Austria this week, he now faces Ohio , a very tough AFC side. Several players used to play for Austria before moving to Ohio when Ross Mather moved so there should be some great clashes here. Ohio played well in Week 1 but havent hit their stride yet, always tough to play away in the FWL and travelling to Austria could be the difference.
