Apart from the last Montreal team who won the FWL Bowl for the third time in 4 years one of the other strongest teams of all time was the Austria DarkKnights of Season 6.  Mario left the season before and GM Bruce Henderson hardly had to touch the team to lead them to victory...

If you check out http://www.fwl.org.uk/teams6.htm its stunning to see the quality of the side...

QB - Josh LaRocca, Petrus Penkki, Todd Bouman

LaRocca led his team to a 2nd FWL Bowl win and 4th EFC Championship game in the last 5 years.  Backup Petrus Penkki started for two years when the GM messed the team up but is an oustanding backup (19 td's 5 ints last 4 years) and threw 5 td's in a game this year !!.  3rd stringer was Todd Bouman who was in his 2nd year, traded to Sacramento where he led the team to 7 straight playoffs and won FWL Bowl X and also 4 AFC Championship games winning one.

HB Lawrence Phillips, FB Pepe Pearson

Phillips was traded to Montreal that season and Pepe Pearson took over the HB1 role.  He set a then FWL record of 17 td's and rushed for over 1000 yards.

WR Lee Morris, Mike Cadore, Thabiti Davis, Andy McCullough, WR7 Mike Bowman

An amazing set of WR's.  Lee Morris at the time was the most explosive WR in football and caught over 91 passes that year.  Mike Cadore was one of the best possession WR's in football , Thabiti Davis was a 1st round pick who found a lot of success with Frankfurt with 5 straight 1000 yard seasons, Andy McCullough was another #1 pick who had success with Montreal with 3 FWL Bowl wins.  Even Mike Bowman tasted success with Austria in season 9 with over 800 yards and led the team in season 10 with 95 catches and nearly 1300 yards and again the next year with 80 catches until he sadly sat on the bench last year with Ohio after moving there.

Offensive line - C Terry Vlasic, G Cale Evans, T Lonnie Palelei, G Lorenzo Daterman, backup G David Diaz-Infante

Amazing lineup of players with some very good backups (havent mentioned them all), Diaz-Infante went to 3 FWL Bowl wins with Montreal

Defensive Line - DE Steve Akers, DE Curtis Eason, DT Brandon Noble, DT Tim Geiger

Just an amazing group, Akers is one of the best ever and has won 3 additional FWL Bowl rings with Montreal, DE Eason enjoyed success with Frankfurt going to the playoffs a ton and had 11 sacks this year for the Galaxy.  DT Noble had a great career as did Tim Geiger

LB's - Kinnon Tatum, Marc Lillibridge, Terrence Cooks, Brett Fields

An amazing quarter, Tatum is still going strong today, enjoyed FWL Bowl success with Sacramento and more playoffs with Frankfurt.  Had over 100 tackles this year.  Lillibridge is a FWL Legend at LB, Cooks enjoyed 7 out of 8 seasons in the FWL with 50 or more tackles and LB Brett Fields is one of the all time best leading the league in LB sacks for many seasons and winning 4 FWL Bowls in his career.  Had an amazing 30 sacks in 3 years with Montreal, 12 in one year !

Secondary - S That Mersereau, Soloman Parris, Billy Gustin, CB Ernie Short, CB Pascal Ritzheim
An amazing set of players.  Mersereau was a very good vetearn, Soloman Parris led the league in tackles TWICE with Raleigh, CB Billy Gustin was named All-FWL at safety for Amsterdam this year, CB Ernie Short is a legend at CB/S, Pascal Ritzheim had 4 FWL Bowl rings since moving to Montreal and had a good year as a backup this year with the Surge picking off 2 passes to lead the team.

Special teams - Kendall Trainor

Trainor was the leading kicker until his record were beaten this year, had an amazing career though

Just an amazing amazing team.  I'm sure in 5 seasons or so we can look back at the Montreal squad and see the same.

Ladies and Gentleman:

Each and every player was drafted or traded by me. And please do not complain about some silly moves the former Admirals GM made these days. Many of those players where hard work to get, including the trades for the picks. And hey i treid the hell to get these players

I will defenitely be always proud of my achievment - yep.

My favourite Players:
  • CB Ernie Short - my hero. He intercepted Rheins QB Dave Barr on the final drive of the EFC championship-game in season#3. Not sure though, but i think it even was in the endzone....
  • LB Marc Lillibridge - see his stats and you know why. I can remember having had a cruel trade to get him but i knew i wanted him and it paid off (does anyone see a coincidence to Curt Anes here  Grin ?
  • C Terry Vlasic - probably the best C ever to have played the game, compared to the overall level of league-ratings....

I agree with that choice.

Maybe my Galaxy had allways some pieces missing to be really great all over
(sometimes a bad K or weak DBs or only 'no-name' WRs)
I think it is one of the best teams on the long term scale !

10 playoffs in a row are still to beat and even with one 5-9 season (the only not-winning season) I have
reached this season the great overall record of 130 regular season wins in 13 seasons !!!!

10 wins per season in average !!!!!!

So maybe other teams had their time when they were better, overall the Galaxy is something
you could call a dynasty in the FWL.

Yep agree with Frankfurt being a dynasty, Montreal to me are the next dynasty and still have a great team.

Frankfurt did an amazing job specially with Stoney Case (one of the all time great trades) considering like you say you have 'no name' WR's.  Thabiti Davis i think is one of the few 1000 yard WR's in Galaxy history.

What amazes me is the depth you had on that Austria side though, like i said before i was stupid for allowing Bridson to mess up that team.  At least i've learnt.  Amazing team though

One of the best things i liked was Frankfurts last 'hurrah' with their vets, eg with Case in his final year, Bobby Phillips really in his last year of starting the Galaxy upset Scotland in the AFC Game and lost in the FWL Bowl, great year though.  Without Case they collasped the next year with David Ward who seems to be great at coming off the bench (as he did with Birmingham last year) but not starting from day 1.

well to be honest i think i wold have an unbeatable w/l-record as a GM now if i hadn´t pull out.

I had so much talent on my team that i could have sold the backups for very high picks in order to stay on top for seasons to come (does not necessarily mean that i would have won more Bowls because everything can happen in the POs - but i think i would have dominated teh EFC west many many seasons.....)

But hey that is life.

i did the right thing back than - never regretted it. and now it is fun to get steamrolled over by half of the league with lack of high-profile-players. AND STILL WIN A TITLE  Grin
