Which GM did the best overall job this year, its not always about the final record, its also about the biggest change in the team, the most improved team etc.....

1) Austria: Mario Kreiner: Very active this year, took over a 5-9 team from last year, made the most trades this year, improved to 7-7 and an EFC West title.  Some very good young talent and some very good trades.

2) Frankfurt: Marco Lambert: Had a great team last year but this year the team have been on fire and have taken another step forward, favourite for the FWL Bowl BUT GM of the Year is mainly based on the regular season performance.  Amazing Frankfurt team though.

3) Montreal: David Harwood: The most winning team over the previous 5 seasons, Harwood has kept his side on course to the playoffs and perhaps more with some good trades the last season, this year has been quiet on the trade front but the team hasnt needed many changes.  Made a great transition from different HB's the last few years and players on the d-line

4) NY: Adam McLane - Come on be honest, who would have thought NY would have had the #1 slot in the AFC Playoffs this year ?  Adam has created a great squad the last few seasons, has a lot of young talent, not that active this year but has done everything right in getting his team to the AFC Championship game and more importantly the #1 slot in the AFC playoffs.

5) Berlin: Andreas Born - Any other year they might have had the #1 position in the EFC, constantly fought with Frankfurt all year and even beat them once, great veteran squad, has showed that you can win a lot with veterans and not just young players.

6) Amsterdam: Niki van den Berg - Taken Amsterdam back to the playoffs yet again, after moving divisions in the offseason it looked near impossible to get to the playoffs but Niki has done a fine job and despite a change at QB and HB the team look stronger then ever for next year.

PLEASE be non-biased in your voting and dont not vote for someone as theyve annoyed you or they are a division rival.

The results of this poll will contribute towards the final decision BUT i have a rough idea who i will pick but i wanted to see what everyone else thought.  There will be just one GM winner not an AFC/EFC result.

The results will be shown after 10 days

Regards

small problem what if all votes go only to european or american GM's! since last year we have a GM of the year from the American and the European division!

Well last year i did name an AFC and EFC GM (first time ever) but on the history pages (history.htm) you were the Overall GM of the Year pipping Jason to the title.

All previous years had just one GM of the Year and i'll keep it that way really.

Its a bit like the All Pro voting in the NFL, the sportswriters vote, the fans vote and the coaches/players.

What the result is from this i'll put towards my nominations, eg it'll count for 'half' the total.  Just was interested to see what people thought.  Bit surprised so far at the result currently

As anyone tries to avoid a discussion here i want to raise my voice for Andreas Born, GM Berlin.

Excellent job, exceptional team-management, big improvement this season. And as this is the voting for THIS seaons best GM i voted for Andreas. He deserves it.

I agree with you Mario, but regarding activity you do a lot more
and you turned a weak team into a competitor this season.

I also think that Adam did a very fine job with NY, even as he did
not reach the Bowl.

GM of the year should not be about the Playoffs, but about the job
the GM has done to succesfully make his team better.

So I would vote Mario and/or Adam

Yep i agree its not really about the playoffs more the regular season.

I think Adam did an exceptional job the last few seasons with drafting, probably one of the best drafters lately.  Not too many trades but his great drafts have provided a great nucleus for now and the future.  Picking up QB Phil Stambaugh as a FA and giving him a season or 2 in training camp before unleashing him was brilliant.

Mario i think would have got more 'bonus' points if Austria had a winning record but either way winning the division after last seasons losing effort and adding many good players on the team is exceptional.  Mario certainly is the most active GM in the league and many of the trades look to be excellent.

Marco of course had the basis of a good team a few seasons back despite that losing record but has added a fine QB in the draft and HB Joe Aska has just exploded this year.

David could set records which will never be broken perhaps, 4 FWL Bowl appearances in 5 seasons !!!  Danny Wuerffel is the Joe Montana of the FWL and whatever happens in the FWL Bowl 4 appearances in 5 seasons is incredible.  Should be a great final

I didnt mean that first statement to do with the GM of the Year or anything, i just meant whatever happens David will set some records which might be set forever , i mean 4 FWL Bowls in 5 years, wow !!!  Plus the Machine still have a lot of young talent so they could be winning a lot the next few seasons.

Also whats incredible is that he took over the first ever 0-14 team.  The trades the last few seasons for DT Spicer and HB Corey Walker gives Montreal two young players for the next 8 or so seasons.

Congratulations to Adam. Andreas would have been my favourite, though. Nice words by Paul in his mail and thanks for the 2 votes i got, nevertheless i do not think that i would have deserved the honour: Winning the EFC West is not a huge achievement.

So let us move forward to next season  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Very true, but i do like seeing teams do a big turnaround and i think Austria did that.  Okay they won only two more games but i think the squad this year compared to last year has a huge difference, last years was pretty poor but with many good trades this year, eg Rasmussan and Hatchette its worked out wonders this year.

Adam didnt have a huge Win turnaround from last year but in a very competitive AFC Adam won the #1 seeding and advanced all the way to the AFC Championship game just to lose out in a tight tight game against Montreal.

Adam has drafted so well recently and made some bold moves, eg letting Black go and starting Brown.  He has a very good young squad and should be one of the favourites next season in the AFC
