With the trading deadline past, the Knights face a race to the playoffs with Phil Stambaugh hurting mightily, and only Marcus Crandell playing healthy before the AFC Wild Card game. Who, if anyone, do you think they should pick up off the scrapheap to pad the roster?

Interesting trivia note looking at that list: three of the four veteran QBs available are ex-Monarchs.

Some good FA QB's out there actually, Abrew did a fine job for you last year, Bonner is a decent QB and Ingram Jones is one of the few QB's ever to throw for 4000 yards in a season ( http://www.fwl.org.uk/alltime.htm#ijones )

Think only Jim Murphy is the only other QB in the league

Pity Jones is a FA and not on anyones roster !

...and now Abrew is taken off the board by Austria, who not only gave him a chance to play, but to have a three-touchdown day! Word on the street is that Stambaugh still can't do more than hand off the ball in the event Crandell goes down, but the Knights hold firm!

The chances are slim but i must admit if i was a 9-2 team i would put my star QB on I and then get a veteran backup

The chances are tiny but IF Crandell is shaken up and misses a quarter (possible) then Stambaugh would automatically come in, if he re-injures himself then its good bye for the playoffs for Stambaugh

Its going to be interesting to see who the computer selects as MVP, Stambaugh should be favourite but missing the last 4 games might not help

basically it was this thread who let me look into more details of the QBs who are available in the FA-list. so a big thanks here....  Grin

Once and for all:
Anes is my starter, Abrew the backup.
Abrew missed the chance to move to a regular QB1 with his early performance. I have never seen any QB in the league to throw 7 int on route and to start a game 2-14 for 13yds and one INT.

i almost got a heart-attack.....
Anes seems more reliable for a GM who has a wife and two kids....

I dont know, cant work you out !  Anes 11 touchdowns in i think its 9 starts , Abrew 3 touchdowns in 1 start !

But yeah you should go back to your long time starter.  Knowing poor Abrew that'll  be the only action he has then he'll be cut and no one will sign him !!!

As for Abrew like i said to you considering you signed him one day before the games are played you couldnt expect miracles.  After a nightmare start he settled down and had a great game.  Pressure on Anes if he plays poorly the next few weeks

Yeah, it did occur to me after I posted it that it actually could very well work against the interest of the Knights since other teams might latch on to all the good remaining QBs before they, at the very bottom of the waiver wire priority list, would have a crack at them. But while NY/NJ's AFC rivals didn't take that opportunity (not yet, anyway!)... one can always count on Mario not to miss a trick. Smiley

But i'm sure most FWL GM's know what good/bad players are on the FA list.  I knew about Abrew and the others all season long so did some other GM's.  Sadly just not much room for a veteran QB nowadays.

Perhaps we should limit the amount of good QB's in every draft.  I think we might have added too many young QB's so that quality vets like Bonner/Abrew are not wanted.  Age is one thing but when a QB the year before starts about 8 games and throws 14 td's and 3 ints thats better than most QB's this year.  Just a shame no one wanted him for most of the year

1) Why do you work against the interest of the Knights? You won´t play them anymore this season anyway  Grin

I didn't say I _wanted_ to work against them. I just realized that it might be an issue, but that wasn't enough reason to make me not want to post. (although it's true enough that there's the old World League Monarchs/Knights rivalry...)
