Berlin trade veteran LB Wesche to Paris

LB Stefan Wesche (Berlin) for an 8th round draft pick (Paris)

Wesche a quality veteran was told he would not be starting this year but because of his long term service to Berlin he was granted permission to find a trade.  Wesche could start in one of the starting LB roles for Paris and is a quality pickup.  Berlin meanwhile say farewell to one of their best LB's of all time.

Weche had  a great career with Berlin for 10 seasons, in 2003 he was injured and missed most of the season but every other year he had 50+ tackles and at least a scak in every season.  Wesche was a sleeper pick in the 7th round of the EOS4 draft by Berlin.  Wesche was surprisingly only named All-FWL once and that was in 2007.  Wesche led his team in tackles for 2 straight seasons from 2007-2008 and is currently ranked 22nd all time with 655 tackles.  Wesche also has 42 career sacks, 8 fumble recoveries and 3 interceptions.  He played in 11 playoff games including 3 EFC Championships and won an FWL Bowl ring in 2004.  In every year Wesche started the Berlin defense finished in the top 10.

To get Wesche for an 8th is a great deal even if retirmement is just around the corner - i wanted to pick him up from the FAs in case he would get released.

anyone who calls me a complete idiot for aquiring LB Beutler for a 4th: You are right. But i was in a hurry not to be forced to use my 1st rounders for a LB as i got a excellent LB-squad already and i did not want to be left with "no" LB5 who could step in as LB4 at times.....

Well Robert Thomas stepped in very well last year for you when you started him. Had some great plays.

Its worth picking up some veterans for a low draft pick rather than risk seeing them go on the FA scrapheap to be signed in a lottery by other teams.

S Byrd has recently been cut, must admit if i had known i would have offered a low pick for him but now i'll try to sign him but have to see if anyone else wants to sign him as well

The computer even had LB Wesche as LB1 for Berlin which shows how much the computer thinks of Wesche.  I dont always agree with the computer ratings but its interesting to see how they list players when you run retirements and it starts the new season
