Week 3 Preview

Paris at New York

Must win game for both teams, Paris are improving but still need work. New York are a huge surprise to be 0-2, they have opened up with two tough away games and this their first home game they need to win and win big. The losses of two defensive superstars have really hurt the team but they need to rebound.

New York by 10

Birmingham at Montreal

Birmingham are 2-0 at home, Montreal 1-1 with both games on the road, with their home opener Montreal will need a good win here, Birmingham are flying at the moment and they would love a win over Montreal and a tiebreaker. Montreal looked good last week and should be better at home, Birmingham may find it tough but could pull off a surprise as they have momentum.

Raleigh-Durham at Sacramento

Must win for both teams, whoever loses could find it a long hard season. Both teams have played some good football, Sacramento need to solve their offensive line problems as Rob Adamson is getting killed back there. For Raleigh they dont seem to have a pass rush and their aging offensive line is playing very poorly.

Ohio at San Antonio

Only Week 3 but some huge AFC clashes already. Ohio are looking great at 2-0 thanks to two very close wins, San Antonio had an excellent win over NY last week and at home again should look just as good. Ohios defense is promising however and the game could be very close.

Orlando at Mexico

The Thunder have looked good this year but HB Dee Brown is struggling and they have no big name at HB which they sorely need. After nearly losing to Berlin last week the Aztecs bounced back late to score a stunning win. At home they should see off Orlando but the Thunder can score points. Mexico have looked very good so far, if they can solve their offensive line troubles which allowed Berlin DT Alan Harper to get 6 sacks they should win this one and move to an impressive 3-0. They do have to stop their midseason collaspes though which have haunted them in recent seasons.

Austria at Amsterdam

Classic EFC game and a rematch of some brilliant playoff games the last few years. Both teams are 2-0 and even though Amsterdam arent playing great (36 points and 0 td passes in two games) their defense is playing very very good. Austria are also looking good all round and this should be a classic, Amsterdam get the edge because of homefield advantage and Austria havent played an away game yet.

Frankfurt at Berlin

What might have looked an easy game on paper could be a tough one, Berlin have played very well the last few weeks and should have beaten Mexico. They cant run the ball that well with undersized Avon Cobourne and the fans are shouting for Butchie Wallace to start at HB1 but Berlins offensive line has been excellent allowing just 2 sacks in 2 games. Frankfurt have looked good all round and will be a great test for young Berlin.

Rhein at London

London have been a surprise this year, their defense is playing very well, their rushing attack still isnt great but theyre playing good all round football and have a chance to move to 3-0. Rhein like many other teams cant run the ball and the fans are screaming for Tony Hollings to start at HB1 as Bongo-Wanga isnt the answer. London are playing good all round football and could get another win here.

London by 7

Barcelona at Scotland

The alarm bells are ringing in Scotland, the team just dont look like last years great FWL Bowl winning side. Granted theyve had two close losses both in overtime but the Claymores dont look the same team. They need a huge win here to gain momentum but could find it tough against Scotland. The main problem for Scotland to say the least is their last ranked defense. Theyve allowed a league worst 300+ yards on the ground and cant stop the pass either. Some retooling or changing needs to be done with the D-line or LB's as Scotland are looking dire. Either way at home they should win this one but the defense HAS to improve.
