I really like Williams. He was a 1st rounder for me previously and had 7 sacks in his rookie year but had an off year last year. His player stats i really like as i go for players with high AG and ST. I have 3 other starters (Haguza, Word and Sutton) and i had no one else apart from old vets who could easily be FA's. Find me a DT in the league which i can get for a 2nd round draft pick who has better AG and ST ??
I needed Williams back really, like i say being a 1st round pick i like to normally keep these players for a long time.
HB Korey Chapman was only ever going to be a backup for me and with BJ Askew on board he was going to be a backup for 7 or so years so he was expendable.
The draft picks are quite a lot BUT i've done a lot of trades, i received two extra 2nd round draft picks because of trades and some other rounds, eg round 3 from Raleigh.Â
At this moment in time i have a 1st round pick, no second round pick and a 3rd round pick (From Ral). Because i dont draft sleepers the lower round picks are no use to me.
So the only difference is i have no 2nd round draft pick yet i have HB BJ Askew who will be my RB starter for the next 7 years at least. At the end of the day its like giving up a 2nd round draft pick for HB BJ Askew which i think is well worth it.
I dont think the deals bad at all, if anything David thought he was being too kind to me but you think the opposite !
So far i think one of the worst trades was the one you did with Ohio. CB Howard is an average CB with not the greatest speed, i think you could have picked up Howard for a 3rd or even 4th round draft pick. Howard had 0 stats last year so thats how much Ross thought of him. All those draft picks you gave him surprised me, 'normally' with a 2nd round draft pick you could get an instant starter , with a 3rd round draft pick you have a potential starter in a season or two. All those draft picks to Ohio did surprise me especially someone like Howard ! I personally cant see what you see in him. 21 tackles in his rookie year but ZERO last year. For a lowly backup with 0 tackles i think he should have been cheaper
You may think i gave up a lot but its definately not a Levi Ramsey type of trade !!!
The key to winning in the FWL i personally think is getting a rushing attack, BJ Askew 'might' be the answer for me in that department. As for Williams i could have perhaps got him cheaper but i wanted him whatever and i didnt want to see him going to another team.
If you look at my d-line apart from 3 starters the rest are just lowly backups/FA's....
DE Pulver - career backup
DT Aikins - Had some good years with the Knights (
http://www.fwl.org.uk/alltime.htm#cakins ) but is now on the downside of his career.
DT Barron - long time backup
A 2nd round draft pick for a starting d-line member isnt bad .
At the end of the day if all trades were good and there werent any slight risky ones or ones which gave people different views it would be boring !
I think HB Mike Green has excellent stats but didnt pan out in Sacramento, if he fits in with Raleigh the Skyhawks have a great rushing attack.
